And yet trump needed their recognition so bad, he made up FAKE covers. Think about that for a minute.

The Time designation of Person of the Year is conferred on the most influential person (or in some years group of people) not necessarily the "best" person which explains why this person has previously won the award.

Nobody would have heard of this girl if the right didn't have a conniption over her. Food for thought going forward

I'm not sure that I would agree completely considering that she first became a public figure in 2016 but I do agree that the demonization of her by the right has given her much greater degree of fame than she would have had otherwise.

Wow, you seem almost as hurt as President Snowflake. Do you need a hug?

Maybe a therapy dog, or a puppy, those always brighten peoples spirits.

I detect a little resentment. Perhaps not surprising from someone who worships Donald Trump and considers his tweets the infallible word of the Chosen One.

I definitely was exaggerating, but I had certainly never heard of her until the right freaked out. And I consider myself pretty well aware of the political climate. They threw gas on the fire for sure.

Disagree with her being named Time's POTY. Why? As an activist she has not shed new light on the CC debate. The really talk about "the power of youth" the best example were the Parkland HS survivors, who really were the first children to stand up concerning gun violence, IMO.

We all better hope Trump or Hillary doesn’t start posting here. We’d be out of people to attack.

While I think the Parkland survivors were definitely deserving of the accolade, the difference between them and Tunberg is that their impact, which I agree was significant even to the point that they may have been so effective as to have flipped the script on gun control, was limited to the US. Tunberg had an international impact, as I pointed out in post #7 in this thread.

Hong Kong protesters is not "a person", though I realize they have given it to broad groups before. If I were on the editorial board who decides this, I would certainly tend towards giving it to "a person" over a larger vague group, unless it's far and away not even close or there is no other candidate. I don't really think that is the case here. IMO, and I definitely sympathize with the Hong Kong protesters in their plight against mainland China.

In reality, who gives a crap about magazine covers other than crazed Trump sycophants? Do these people even realize Trump doesn't give a crap about Hong Kong protesters either? He's just mad because it's not HIM.

Well I think it is fantastic that Greta is so recognized. The adults, left and right, have left a nasty, polluted, mess of just about everything with their BS politics while the planets ecosystem, the one humans need to survive, is under threat and being decimated.

For those that think humanity is going along nicely, on this planet, I would like to hear from you. I could use a little encouragement.
