There is another part of this I don't think anyone has pointed out.
The United States of America does not support racial discrimination, police mistreatment or abuse of anyone.
Our Constitution, our courts and our government stand firmly against those things.
    "Liberty and justice for all."

We both agree that have the right to protest how they want to protest.

So you statement that we don't agree is wrong. As usual.

Your protest would be misplaced and should be directed towards elected officials in which case I say vote them out. Do not forget it is the nation that allows you to voice your displeasure and that is where the pride is directed. It is not the nation that is holding you or anyone else back it is the elected official.

Same with Mr. Kapernick it is not the nation he should be displeased with. He has every right to be displeased with any entity that he feels is not abiding by the laws and the constitution of the US.

I know it is off topic but I never got to see that bird fly. I did watch the concord come into Dulles Airport from my deck in the backyard once a week until they grounded it. Shook the windows in my house like nobody's business but it was a marvelous site to behold each and every time.

Yet, unequal justice is what has happened throughout history. The protest is about that injustice.

I have a bunch on here. Persistent disparities in law enforcement, prosecutorial decision-making, and sentencing outcomes.

    Yes of course. Irrefutable.
Hell .. slaves were defined as 3/5 human by the U S Constitution and were defined as property by the United States Supreme Court in the Dred Scott decision.

Our country's original sin. Been undermining justice since inception.

Given how often I've written to race on here, however, I'd be remiss not to also mention how economic disparities are part and parcel of criminal justice system problems. Lack of wealth strongly associated with lack of justice.

If Jamaal or Latrell rob Habib's Discount Beverage Mart, somebody's going to jail. If C. Winthorp III rob Bank of America, everybody gets paid with a production bonus on top of it.

    Not regardless.

[Edit]: Even when controlling for socioeconomic status, public/private lawyer, past record, employment etc... blacks are significantly more likely to be stopped/searched, arrested, and suffer more punitive sentences. In other words, the race effect remains a significant predictor of disparities in criminal justice outcomes in the face of these other factors.

    I shall oblige...

For starters. NYPD basically had to end their stop & frisk practice because it was racially discriminatory.

    Stanford University racial profiling study.

Here, in graph format showing consistent racial disparities across criminal justice.

    Racial disparities in sentencing.

    Sentencing Project.

    Other evidence.

    Race differences in drug arrests:
    Black-White Drug Arrest Rates 1980-2013.JPG
This is only a sample of what is out there wrt to research on race and criminal justice.

FWIW, we don't use the term proof in science--that's for math. But we use the language of statistical probability in determining the validity of the evidence. In this way, the overwhelming evidence points to persistent, systemic racial disparities and institutionalized racial biases, from policing through punishment. The war on drugs made things worse yet we should be clear that in some ways things have improved. But improvement by no means equal justice or fairness.

Here's some more outside criminal justice.

Persistent racial disparities in social mobility.

    Here too.

    Housing & Health

    Employment

    Here too

You have to be willful to dismiss out of hand that race is irrelevant, especially when this is only a tiny number of more recent studies. Indeed, there are hundreds if not thousands of studies that have uncovered racial disparities that cannot be explained away by other factors, not to mention, the breadth of where disparities are found is a story in itself.

I'd hit the "like" button, but there's not much to like about the facts you provided. The thing that is likeable, though, is that you provided FACTS to support your argument. Well done.

    Move the goalposts much?

I thought I called for criminal justice statistics related to race and wealth and you're throwing housing and health
