I think you have to be crazy to think he won't be able to block. Just ridiculous.
Do you think Pitts can block better and is stronger than Tebow?
Dude is swole!
We have now gone from "stiff" to "swole" to describe Tebow....once again may I remind you he saved himself for marriage and is now married to Ms. Universe....
lol...Id shelter behind one of Tebows quads in a nuclear blast and be fine....Tebow eats defensive lineman for lunch and linebackers for breakfeast.
This is a really bizarre reach. Critical of his route running, catching etc ok but such hyperbole over his ability to block? Weird.
Where's the worst post ever rating?
My goal is to keep this thread open. Please be as respectful as you can to differing views. Thanks for your help!
Wow. He looks totally jacked imo. Hes in great shape. Its a mental game to him now more than anything. All this other talk is mostly nonsense.
But the level of hateful things being said about Tebow has just been off the charts. I feel that at this point the gauntlet has been laid down for Timmy and Urban to prove the army of naysayers wrong!
Edit: I am referring to the commentary by the news pundits and not necessarily to what is being said here in the forum.
I mean blocking is just as critical a skill set as those other ones, and we have zero evidence to suggest he'll be good (or bad) at them. He obviously has the physique and desire to get dirty and block, but we won't know if he's actually competent at it until he's out there and has to set the edge on runs and block linemen.
Simply based off experience I'd say Pitts would be ahead of Tebow blocking-wise. Strength-wise it's a bit of an odd comparison considering Tebow is a grown 33-year old man who has been involved in intense weight training for different professional sports for over a decade now, while Pitts is a 20-year old still growing into his body. I would hope that Tebow is stronger than him at this point.
If he were a lineman I'd agree and while you're correct we have no evidence one way or the other its not as if urban is going to trot out Tebow if he's going to get their #1 pick clobbered.
Agreed. The one (huge) benefit he does have is Urban knows his skill set better than anyone so he won't be trot him out there and expect him to do something he's not particularly good at.
The assumption here is that Tebow is only going to be used as a traditional TE, which I doubt. I believe it makes more sense that his used will be situational. He may be a short yardage back, a wildcat QB, a TE or an H back from play to play. I am sure they have some idea in mind how they want to use him if he makes the team.
By the way we just sacked Troy Smith again...
It's a shame he let himself go like that.
Others agree with you.
Some see Tim having about the same role he had under Leak.
Situational guy, NOT a full time TE.
Probably not even a tight end at all.
