hopefully we get some good news tonight and through the weekend.
My brother and I attended Lake Taylor in Norfolk and our older brother was a grad of Maury. We moved to Florida in 1970 where my brother and I finished high school as NSB Barracudas. I remember Cox though. That was a long long time ago.....@MarineG8R.....
I'm only talking about this class of 2019. That's my way of saying our board at CB keeps getting smaller without commits to the good guys. Interest is nice, but we have to get commits. July turns into August and September and October and November and then 80-90% of the blue chippers are off the table. We can't just expect that in a couple of months there will be a surge of top players flipping to the good guys. At some point we have to get commits; otherwise our options on the board are not going to look like we are DBU.
Bummer. Guess I shouldn't get excited if he commits.
So you're saying the only possible commit we could get this weekend is from a kid who might not qualify?
Keep an eye out for Kimbrough (although there's speculation he wants to wait to do it at his HS).
Also, Diwan Black. He could flip from Ole Miss, and was previously committed to Mullen at MSU.
Today is Zipperer's birthday - and he's visiting (along w/ Summerall).
Another DB may commit....and we may get a 2020 kid or two.
I'd like to see us get at least 2 by Sunday and another within a week (2019 kids)....at least. We likely sign 22-24 in the class, so we need a few more before we head into the season (hopefully we get 18 or more by the December signing day).
I told u that I’m in Port Orange didn’t I. What a great area to live along with NSB
This is it. This is the weekend to get to #24 or #25 in recruiting.
Gotta get two this weekend.
Is it just me or have I missed comments about our new DB coach and recruiting? Asking for someone to correct me if I've missed them?
Come on Ghost .. I think we are pretty much waiting for real stuff . These speculations just don’t get it anymore . Tired of disappointing news
I have heard from a pretty good source that UF received at least 2 commits thus far.
Here is some stuff I can share from a variety of sources.
KZ and Lloyd Summerall spent a lot of time with CDM
Black will be here through Sunday.
Derrick Hunter came and worked out.
Krull is a monster and just stands out. 6'7 250, no fat.
Weston showed up and worked out. Says his commitment is 99%. TIFWIW
Pickering did not show. No ride supposedly.
Kamarr Bell was here but did not work out this time. He did however get his photos in O&B.
JUCO Brandon Jones did show and work out. I don't know how he looked Other than he is big.
More later, some chatter about Black flipping.
Connecting dots and what not. Uf will/should come out of this with 3-4 by Monday or Tuesday. Maybe more.
Today is the day that Fink beats the Stomach.
Cristobal was never going to FSU since he is a Miami graduate and a die hard Cane fan. Same reason why you will never see Queezie Green at coach at FSU or T. Buckley at coach UF.
Will they be public commitments is the question. Listening to the last GC podcast and Gators Break down, the issue for Mullen and his staff is that they would have kids commit to them while on campus and then go home and end up announcing their commitment to other schools. See Pickering, DE, circa May '18.
The Early Signing Day really changed the timeline for recruiting. Coaching staffs want to have between 80% to 90% of their class signed on ESD. If you are a low four/high three star and are committed to an elite program and don't sign on ESD, you likely just lost your spot in that class. Only the Top 150/200 type kids can now wait until NSD to announce their pick and expect to have a spot with their top choices. That radically changes the recruiting calendar since ESD is about a week after the championship game week for CFB. Coaching staffs now don't have the time to focus on recruiting during and after the season is over, like they did in January and February. Now a large portion of a recruiting class has to be committed and locked down by the beginning of the season/end of September. So those Top 200 to 400 type kids have to be publicly committed and recruiting for their program by around September 15th.
Actually think it is the reverse now. So many kids sign in December that remaining talent is subject too a feeding frenzy and recruited like 5 stars until dead period prior to NSD
I continue to say gotta have 80-90% of class signed in December. Some posters don't realize how much early signing has changed things. Most kids would tell ya with summer camps, HS practice Aug. 1, and HS games for 3-4 months, they want to commit sooner than later. Many also have to really continue to focus on academics if they want to enroll early. Ask the kids and most feel this way. Even more so with early enrollees and academics.
If we come out of this weekend with 4commits we are in solid shape.
3 not bad. 2 or less is a different story. We'd all take two but realistically class needs to start filling out.
