Right, I've ALWAYS asked that. Like really....somebody break down the difference between Issiah Walker, who's composite ranking is 158, and Marcus Dumervil who's composite ranking is 103. The rankings are just talk, they don't evaluate all those players
Come on man. 247 just reranked recruits the other day. One of our guys dropped 3 spots! Someone else moved up 25 spots! Dump the kid that dropped 3 spots! Rough rankings may matter somewhat but these recruitnik services are all kaka to get money
I think it is lost in the recruiting babble of how much development of players happens in college. Look at Cleveland. He has had so much speed, length, and athleticism from day 1, but he seems finally to be turning the corner into becoming a more well-rounded receiver. We have also had plenty of talented guys go through the program and never figure it out. So many rankings are based on metrics (projecting to the NFL rather than on field performance) that may never result in a player being an All-American much less a Pro Bowl NFLer, and some of recruiting is a coach believing the player that he will put in the work and develop and hasn't already plateaued at his highest level.
I just find it interesting when you look at the first page of his recruiting thread here. He visited 3 times? Someone mentioned if he was gonna be in the SEC it would be Florida not that what someone writes necessarily means anything but he spoke like it was something smalls mentioned. What changed in that time to go from visiting a place 3 times to not putting them in their top 6?
Great, great song... Lets just say that the man in the black shirt and striped tie considers that... his favorite song.
I remember saying that I felt like it would be us or Bama if he came down south and err....swing and miss on my part lol
You nailed it. We will never equal Clemson, BAMA, LSU, OSU, UGA, OU, and others when it comes to recruiting. It doesn't matter who our coach may be. Reason being, the stipends, unequal academic requirements, money is no object top tier facilities, and cash/job/car/house gifts for players and their parents by outlaw boosters. And by the time we catch up with the insane facilities wars in 2023, we will be lagging behind once again.
Meyer had us ABOVE those teams in recruiting when he was here and Muschamp had us up there as well until the mystique wore off. It can happen, we have to stop acting as if it can't. Maybe times have changed in the financial sense of recruiting over the last few years, but it has happened
