ahhh...but the Michigan closer...that was an epic ass beating.
Yet you disagreed with my post?!
I thought the Torrence kid from Alpharetta was a safety
Right and he's our only S committed so far (it's still early anyways) and we're in the hunt for:
Avantae Williams (Oregon commit)
Major Burns (announces today)
Trenton Yowe (announces in 3 days)
On the positive: Looks better than last year, and definitely shaping up to be the best class for us since Urban when you take into account both balance and talent.
On the negative: Looks like a third tier class with Clemson on their own in T1, and 4-5 teams a step behind them (based on avg star ratings and ability to close down the stretch).
So you only feel shaky about OL? We've got an obvious need at DL and have to knock out of the park this year. Watching Clemson & UGA keep getting top DL commits is disconcerting.
I don't think we get Yowe or Burns.
Not worried about DL at the moment. I also think UF will/might add in a JC or GT on DL.
It gets later every week though. I do not have high hopes that we take a haul from that group, and I don't believe our commit has shut down recruiting. I expect conversion of CB to S to meet our needs, and there is nothing wrong with that as they can make great ball hawking safeties if they have the chops for it.
I agree with everything you say. My expectations are low or better yet, realisitic. Just hard to stay patient at times because recruiting is a long game
Can you fill each slot on who you think will be signed when all is said & done?
it'll be top 10, but probably not top 5 in the sec
On another note, just remembered our safety class got gutted when we moved Burney to OLB and also we gotta remember Randy Russell not being cleared to play. 2 things out of Rin English's control
Every year in June I say the same thing. Only now with early signing everything is sped up. Kids like Sanders last year and Beck and Bowman this year are kids we need to commit early. The later it goes with the big timers the worse off for us or at least that’s how it’s been lately. We need Braun bad!
Yes, out of his control, but I have two counterpoints to your observations. The coaches know that there will be safeties that grow to LB. There will always have to be DB who can be CB or S to make up the difference. Edwards is one of those that should have conceded to being a safety but is still our depth at CB. Although safety is a position that takes coaching up, it is a coaching position that usually a top recruiter is at if they don't have other duties such as ST. My second point is that even if we had Randy Russell, he was a good get, but he was not thought to be an instant impact guy. I don't know that he would be starting, likely playing.
Dexter is getting his weight up close to 300 now. It will not be surprising if he keeps his quickness at that weight he will be a 5 star. Brown also is a great get too. But I hear you, as this is the year that we should be able to get a freak like Jalen Carter in our back yard, but sadly we were not in the running and our hated rival got him.
As expected, Burns to LSU a few hours ago.
From what you can gather, are we still going after Mordecai McDaniel? I see he's visiting UT this weekend I believe
Dexter is no doughboy 290 either, he’s going to be a stud.
