It amazes me just how far Georgia has fallen. Out of the pre-season top 10. Schools like Denver and Cal and Arkansas ahead of them. Wow!

I was as freshman at UF in 1973 (just now retiring); the SEC had no gymnastics programs. There was a club meet held at Alligator Alley that was held at the equipment area not even the main floor. Then we hired Ernestine Weaver and she revolutionized gymnastics in the SEC. The bad part was we got run over by GA (nine NCs) and AL (five NCs) for decades. That is why it is great to see GA not so good now and we have three NCs and very very elite talent.

Ernie put UF Gymnastics on the map we were there for the first 10 on the floor earned by Pam Titus circa 1988

I'd only disagree to say that there is no such thing as a lock in sports. If this teams comes in focused, with chemistry, and takes college gymnastics seriously, they will have as good of a chance to win the SEC and national championships as any team. Forget the past, Olympians often look down on college gymnastics, and embrace the college-stick present.

On the other hand, there are 5 to 6 programs with excellent teams who can do the same. Michigan seemingly came out of nowhere to win the 21 national championship. They are strong again and had a good recruiting class too. Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, UCLA, and Utah all have good chances. History is often repeated in women's gymnastics.

Florida is ranked #2 nationally going into the season:

Gators No. 2 in 2022 WCGA Preseason Poll - Florida Gators

That's with everyone knowing of the new additions to the team. UCLA has a higher ranked recruiting class. Hopefully, the team will take the rankings as fuel to prove what the writer said about them being a lock to win the national championship. Florida clearly isn't a lock with a lot of people around the nation.

To be sure, Florida will get everyone's best shot during the season. There is no room to take any meet for granted.

Honestly, Jenny’s biggest problem this year is finding routine time for all of the talent we have. Gonna be hard to keep everyone happy.

Quad opener tune up tonight to be televised on SEC Network+.

UF hosting bama on 1/16 will be nationally televised by ABC. It is the first women's gymnastics regular season meet to be televised nationally on a major network.

Bummer. Looks like Morgan won't compete...or even be part of the team tonight

Ridiculous how you have people offering football players a million dollars to sign with their team, but a legitimately amateur gymnast not being able to compete.

I despise the NCAA, but she got to campus about a week ago, it’s a lot to ask to have all the paerowork cleared for competing that fast.
She wouldn’t have performed tonight anyway, I am sure they haven’t even had time to finalize and sufficiently practice a routine for her. Which is why she mentioned running out of the tunnel and not performing.
Glad she is taking it well though.
