For what its worth.
That's because their offensive line is a bunch of Swiss Cheese.
Thank you, I'll be here all night.
Don't want to go into the season with only one tackling dummy. Immobile dude behind porous line. Good for them.
Willie has done turned the corner!
I was going to post this the other day but it seemed so insignificant to me that I decided not to. Anyway, Alex Hornibrook was 26-6 as the Badgers' starter. In nine games in 2018, Hornibrook completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 1,532 yards and 13 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.
He achieved those stats behind a good O line and running game. He's going to get eaten alive in Tally not to mention piss off Blackmon after he had to be convinced to return to fsu.
Pretty good college qb; nothing special. I believe he missed a season with concussions. That happened while playing behind one of the top OLs in cfb in a conference with about 4 elite pass rushers in the whole league. It really does not seem like a good move for a kid with a problem with concussions to sign up to line up behind the Turnstiles.
Well.......you guys can say all you want. But FSU just got a VERY good QB. VERY good.
"He played in 35 games with 32 starts at quarterback, going 26-6 (.813) as a starter, the best winning percentage by a quarterback in school history, including a 20-4 record in Big Ten games. He finished his 3-year career as a starter for the Badgers ranked in a tie for No. 3 all-time at UW in touchdown passes (47), No. 4 in completion percentage (60.5), No. 4 in pass efficiency (138.1) and No. 5 in passing yards (5,438). He did also throw 33 interceptions. The Badgers' offense is best described as one that relies heavily on the run game as well."
I personally welcome the addition as it makes our rivalry that much more interesting.
Hornibrook is a painfully average QB.
He might be a Hornibrook now but after playing behind the FSU Oline for a year he will have a Broke-Hornie.
He was at best average as a junior....most Wiscy fans wanted him benched for Coan, and they all wanted Mertz to win the job as a freshman next season. He probably gets a little bit of a bad rap since workmanlike QB's like him are never popular, but I think you may be alone on the island that thinks he is "VERY good". Given his lack of mobility I think it is very unlikely he wins that job.
He's Austin Appleby without the athleticism and behind a worse OL. But he does have concussion syndrome going for him.
Simply a body so they have less of a chance of having to convert a WR to emergency QB. Nothing VERY good about the situation......except to Nolie opponents.
What I find strange is that his final two were FSU and UCLA. He is the exact opposite style of QB for both offenses. Seems odd choice for him AND both programs. Talk about square peg round hole.
You forgot to factor in the desperation factor. =)
Is that you Austin Appleby?
I agree that FSU is stronger with this addition than without him.
Parsing out the numbers, I see a lot of wins(very impressive) but with stats that are a little underwhelming.
So a typical year for him would be...
1800 passing yards (170 per game.)
16 TD passes (1.25 per game.)
11 Interceptions (1 per game.)
Certainly not terrible. Here's my question...Why would he transfer?
Why not stay at Wisconsin, with his teammates, and try to win the Big 10 and make the playoffs?
These are honest questions- I don't keep up with Big 10 football except to know tOSU and Michigan are pretty good.
Wisky has strong lines and run the ball well
Blackman is struggling against air
An upgrade that may not last the season as he may have got hit before but not as often as he’s gonna be
Living in Wisconsin and following the Gators and Badgers here is my take:
Hornibrook is an average talent with a below average arm. Didn’t show inprovement behind decent line the past 2 years. He was going to be beat out by a true frosh. He is a better kid than talent.
Sadly for FSU he does make the team better. Think about that. A below average talent improves your team?
This kid is effective at just handing off to the back. I don’t know how he fits in whatever system that they plan on running. I think they want a mobile QB? Fortunately, for us, this kid’s a statue and with that line he may go through concussion protocol several times over the season. Blackman is marginally better. Either way, the clowns are so screwed. It brings a smile to my face. Now if only Kirby can be caught with recruits at that happy endings place in Palm Beach County.......
When you have no mobility, don't have a strong arm, can't make all the throws, and aren't consistently accurate, there are not a lot of offenses outside of Wisconsin in which you can thrive.
All I can say is..well actually I got nothin'. Just like them. LOL
