We are way behind on infrastructure. There is a ton of this that needs to be taken care of all across the country. In this case, aside from the road traffic over the bridge, there is also a ton of river traffic under the bridge that has been shut down as well.

I thought Trump was going to solve the infrastructure issue? I guess the focus was on a wall in our SW border regions.

"While President Biden marketed himself as a bipartisan bridge builder who would unify the country, in reality only 5% of his massive $2.3 trillion partisan infrastructure proposal goes to actually building bridges, roads, and highways," Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) tweeted on Thursday.

Republicans are pretending 'infrastructure' only means roads and bridges

Republicans are NOT saying that bridges are not infrastructure.

The studies on the unforeseen rise in truck traffic and the ramifications on older bridges, etc, is pretty sobering. One truck equals something like 45,000 car trips. The impact and shock graphs from any bumps or level changes, jebus..

I've taken that bridge a few dozen times on the way to OK. All the extra ammo I took last time may have the final straw.

As an aside, I have never driven over that bridge and not been in awe of the Mississippi River.

A two month duration sounds pretty quick if you ask me. Particularly if it's part of the federal interstate system (I-40)
