Trump is continuing his mission to hire only the best. One year out of college, zero security experience. But he was worked for the Trump campaign and interned with the Heritage Foundation.

Dude is only 12 months removed from being able to legally buy his first beer and now in charge of preventing terrorism? How many qualified candidates were passed over by tRump in order to promote yet another unqualified grifter? And what is the betting line on how long before this blows up in tRump’s face to the detriment of us all?

This is not very different than if Trump appointed a golden retriever to head the Pentagon and keep us safe.

They, like Trump, just care about serving Trump. The people don't matter.

MAGA sees this and just scrolls by. They don't care about appointing people to serve America, because they love Trump more than America.

Good grief. The kid is 12 years old. Yeah.. I feel so much safer now. On the flip side.. I guess I am comforted by the thought that he probably does very very little in the day to day prevention… hopefully he just stands in the corner out off the way and let the men and women on streets do their thing.

This is the problem with a second Trump Admin, no normal Republican wants to work for it and there are not enough Trump loyalist with first Trump Admin experience to staff it. So we are getting super junior people because they are the only people that fit the Trump Admin’s loyalty requirements.

We saw this late in the last Trump Admin. I was at a UVA MBA alumni party and met two very nice young women going through the program. One was on the NSC staff and the other was the director of protocol for a major agency. They were very sharp but about 10 to 15 years to young to be in those positions.

Some may recall I raised this issue during primaries.
I wanted Nikki Haley and I asked pubs who would work for Trump. He definitely isn’t getting the best people and it isn’t a secret why.

Do we know what's going on, whether qualified people are seeking those jobs or not? Does Trump even want qualified people? His Cabinet-level appointees are clearly chosen by loyalty and semi-ideology over competence.
For this position, was it just someone "Hey, I know this nice kid who needs a job, and he really likes Trump."
    "Uh, sure."

Real conservatives do not want to work for Trump since he is not a conservative. And they do not want any Trump stink on them for the next conservative administration.

There is a Trump Loyalty check for appointments. They check your work history, history of giving, any anti-Trump commentary, etc. You have to pass that to be considered. Most professional Republicans that would normally staff an Admin want no part of that.

My brother is an attorney for a very large company. He will not look at any resume if there is any hint of that person previously working for the Trump administration

Those two young women I mentioned above could not find jobs after the 2020 because they worked for the Trump Admin. It is why they were in a full time MBA program. I do not think they deserved that but that is how the corporate world were treating former Trump Admin staffers.

Is that because they question their competence and/or ethics, or because of how they think clients or customers would respond?

I think it was more ethics than competence. Jan 6th did not help, along with the stolen election crap. I think a lot of people in the corporate world thought the first Trump Admin was a blip and could be ignored.

Top qualification for any position is whether they are an ass kisser. He's into that.
