it has been done. It’s called “the believer“ it was great
You have not seen it?
he still is and always will be the coolest fker in any room he walks in. That guy will always be my fav dude in sports. He is and does all the things most of us wish we had the stones to do or say
I guess you didn't read my post, though you quoted it.
The below is a cut and paste from my post though I added a bold font so perhaps you will read my words this time.
There was an SEC special on him, called "The Believer", and it was good.
But, IMO, someone else should do a more no-holds-barred type of film which only focuses on the Spurrier years at UF.
Especially while he is still alive and has the memory to add in juicy details.
I mean- the media war that took place between SOS, the Orlando columnist (Guest?), and Bobby.
What a soap opera. Bobby was the media darling, and SOS was the ultimate "truth to power" kind of guy.
SOS took PR hit after PR hit.
Then it culminated in not only the 52-20 beatdown, but a game that saw SEVEN personal fouls called against the Crims!
Talk about vindication for SOS. Not that anyone ever said they were sorry.
The above was my post from a while ago.
But to put some more details on it...
The Believer was GREAT, but it contained a lot of his time at USCe.
It also didn't cover the media war between him and saint Bobby along with other media problems.
it was more of a feel-good piece.
I want something more hard-hitting and Gator centric.
I especially want some hard-hitting back at the Crims, St. Bobby, and the media who peddled lie upon lie about SOS.
I would like to see this too, but I don't think it will ever happen, because other than in private, I believe that Steve has put it to bed and doesn't see any point in re-hashing it. He was always a forward-looking dude. If it was in the past, it didn't matter....which is how he wanted the team to view the Georgia monkey that he got off UF's back when he coached here.
There is no doubt in my mind that he could recount every fact in minute detail if he wanted to though.
That's why I want it to be made so badly!!
His memory is sharp as a tack, and the man can hold a grudge like Khomeini (to quote Seinfeld.)
And while I definitely understand looking forward, the whole point of the 30 for 30s is to look back and get some history right.
I know SOS values history. It would be so cool to see a good filmmaker do this.
I found a Bandit towel in my storage unit a while back.. My retirement is secure!?!?!?
25 years ago this fall. Don’t count on anyone in the media apologizing for how wrong they were in the sides they chose.
I would really like to see that 30 for 30 made and then shown with 21-24, 52-20, and 32-29 games sequentially.
That would leave no doubt that Spurrier was speaking truth and no one in the media would have any of it!
Coach changed college football forever. But I mean by gifting his Heisman to UF.
On officials and camps my sons were always treated with respect and were always welcomed.
My oldest had more interest in UF
but fsu recruited him far harder.
That said his best offensive lineman award from UF hangs above his hand written letter from coach Bowden in his law office (though fsu gave out a lot of cool stuff, even to my youngest).
IMO coaches decency and dedication as a man far outweighed his athleticism. A real Gator in every way.
I miss him on that sideline every game.
Still into it
The secret of Steve Spurrier's success
Looks like he said BS to the stupid mask
