I think it’s funny that a 1970s French fiction novel is the source of a conservative idea like the great replacement theory.

 

Im guessing only a small % in the US can actually trace their ancestry to 1776. Maybe some like me, that can trace one side of the family to 1600’s but then the other side of the family is quite different.

Not that any of that would actually matter, the original colonists were “immigrants” here too! It’s hardly royal bloodlines.

I just think it’s something else when a Cuban immigrant speaks of concern with “native stock” in country XYZ. Some Clayton Bigsby stuff going on that we’d need a psychologist to explain.

The whole point of the racist “replacement theory” trope is the idea there are native bloodlines. More particularity, white native bloodlines which is being replaced by “foreign” blood. In the U.S. this is a thing that simply does not exist, if it ever existed, it went away centuries ago as mobility increased and we had waves of immigrants coming from an assortment of countries. There is no such thing as “native blood” to be concerned with. But if one thinks there is, yes that 100% makes that person a racist idiot. Full stop.
