Since Covid is over mins the outlier here at too hot with having more than normal still controlled by it... I think this is a great topic of discussion. And it shows how government/public health/media were able to destroy what is vital to our health. "The four pillars of medical ethics are defined as: Autonomy – respect for the patient’s right to self-determination Beneficence – the duty to ‘do good’ Non-Maleficence – the duty to ‘not do bad’ Justice – to treat all people equally and equitably." The four pillars of medical ethics (medicalprotection.org) We ignored the respect for the patient's right to make decisions for themselves. It is especially concerning with our government/public health/media as we just recently said it was okay for one of the fittest athletes in the world who had covid (twice) to enter our country. The duty to 'do good' was ignored by dumping on medicine and science with a one size fits all approach that did not even consider the risk factor of the person. The duty to 'not do bad' was ingored in the same way. A new drug was forced on people who were at little to no risk. All while knowing the group that was at risk. And yes. Harm was caused. And we absolutely ignored justice. We corerced people to take drugs they did not want or need. We destroyed life events for the most vulnerable. It was evil what we did. Curious where this goes. Please do not bring the ad hominem. If you cannot provide solid thoughts on why you think these pillars are good or bad without attacking me. Please stay silent.
Stop with the anti-vax conspiracies. It worked and saved millions of lives. Isn’t there already a Covid thread?
Pan-panic was profitable for hospitals. From Alex Berenson … American hospitals made more money than ever during Covid, thanks to special government subsidies, a new study shows. Hospital profit margins in 2020 and 2021 more than doubled compared to 2019, researchers reported in JAMA Health Forum last month. In all, hospitals made at least $16 billion more in profits during the two Covid years than they did in 2019, the researchers found. Hospitals delayed profitable elective procedures early in the pandemic and had extra costs for traveling nurses and protective gear. But the 20 percent bonus they received for Covid patients and other special funding more than made up the difference for most hospitals. “COVID-19 relief funding aided in operating margins reaching all-time highs,” the researchers wrote. “Funding amounts may have been larger than was necessary for many hospitals.”
Stop it with the vax-worship. I spit on your vax. May your vax strike me dead. Oh right, I never risked taking one.
And Herman Cain didn’t die of dead cellular waste acquiring intelligence and targeting and killing people who denied its existence.
Sad. But when you can’t respond to a real discussion. You do exactly what I expected. Ad hominem. Weak for sure!
This is not about Covid. I discussed Covid as it unfortunately was an essential piece to disregarding these pillars. Care to offer your thoughts on the pillars? Or just continue and roll up your sleeve?!
There were difficult choices and trade-offs, but evil is a very strong word. Vaccine requirements have been around since the 1800's. We've also had them for kids in schools (often with certain exemptions) and those serving in the military, for example. Our society nor our people were destroyed because of those requirements. I do think by August of last year, Djokovic should have been allowed to use the testing protocol and play. He's allowed to play this year, but I think those rules could have been changed a lot earlier than they were.
Does evil have to be premeditated or can it be manifest in actions. What is the following but evil ? Not permitted to open your business. Not allowed to send your kids to school. Cannot attend your church. Not permitted to comfort your dying loved one. Can’t even bury your dead. All of these were factual and were enforced in the name of protecting the healthcare system.
You say this isn't about Covid, but it's about Covid. The public health systems, pharma industry with the vaccines and other treatments they brought forward, epidemiologists and healthcare workers acted to save many lives. They were superb. Social distancing, lost time at school and downed businesses were significant impacts to families and the economy. That was an inevitable trade off. The economy bounced back, remote work found a niche, but the impact to children may be more lasting. My hope was that politicians and leaders from the top down, would give people hope and a sense of working together in a crisis to get through it, using all of the above, not gaslight the healthcare system.
Multitudes were killed via the effects of panic and despair. All in the name of saving people from a theoretical rogue nanoparticle. And they did it superbly.
