I can't believe an actual firm came up with some of those, they are horrid!
The one logo looked like something you would find in a daytona beach gift shop in the 80s
Thanks Navyguy for posting this. Many of them I can remember from a lot of the times over the years. Of course everyone is used to what we have now but it’d be great, at least for Homecoming, to bring them back. I really liked the ones that used an alligator in them.
You missed the point of my post. I am commenting on the ones that never were. Some/most of those are insanely horrid. Can't believe an actual firm came up with those.
That's pretty much how picking a logo works. A firm will have their people draw up every idea they can come up with. Filter the bad ones out, tweak them, revise them, maybe even come up with a new idea for a logo from them.....and the process repeats itself until you have the finished product.
Looks like something produced from a chinese t-shirt sweat shop.
My favorite old emblems are the angry gator in a letter sweater, the round UF with a gator and the state, and the interlocking UF. I guess that dates me a bit.
Snazzy t-shirt he's wearing. Hard to listen to his voice, IMO.
The Gator head is ok, but I miss albert.
I know this is an unpopular opinion here but I'll take my chances and hope y'all love me anyway. I don't get the love for the circle logo. I totally get that it has history and probably seemed less out of place back when it was in heavy use, but I think it looks muddled and busy. I think it would have looked far better without the U and F cutouts and just turned into a full circle.
The circle logo can go, I want Albert back.
Was that horrible unused "Gators" logo with the weird alligator head as the S the origin of the font we use now? I just noticed that it's the same.
That's why one should NEVER hire an outside firm to design anything!!...
Most of those "firms" consist of disinterested dolts, who sketch out the cheap, "cheesy" crap like we just saw,
basically like anyone else can do at home, ...BUT......
Because they are a "firm",... it costs you $10,000 for the same crap....just with more expensive "cheese"
I like that one. It's more of a professional logo, rather than a game day logo. I love you anyway.
The slanted F is just as bad as all of those
Yep, still my favorite Gator logo!
That wasn't ever a Gator logo. It was taken from a guy who did a painting of a Gator chasing a Bulldog a Jacksonville artist did in the early 80s. I have a framed copy. He did a bulldog chasing a gator as well and I suspect he did a few other schools as well.
Somebody stole it and modified it a little and started selling stuff, but it was never a Gator logo.
I think a variation of this (maybe minus the U and F) with the alligator on top of Florida should be the logo for the basketball court instead of the giant gator head
Team Block F or Albert
