The big island does catch the most marlin . Those big ahi they get are fun and even better dinner . For the blue marlin world cup , we go to the big island every year . We can fish Maui but the odds of getting a > 500 pounds is not high .

Hinatea is a great boat to charter . Last year , they were catching more fish than any other boat ( I was told by a friend and not an official report ) . Jason worked for me around 15 years ago when he was 18 and just moved to Maui . He is a great guy . They probably are doing just as well this year but I have not checked up on them .

Someone needs to get a few vac trucks, load them up, dump it on the ACOE Headquarters and every rep that voted to continue the sugar subsidies. Rarely have I thought it would take civil disobedience that rose to the le el of illegal activity but this seems to be one

They are collectable, but they were mass produced and well made so there are a lot of them still around. I would say $25 to $30 on a good day.

This is just terrible and a huge problem. Our beautiful waterways here in Florida are dying, and few appear to want to do anything about it. Just sickening!

For anyone interested, the Army Corp of Engineers will be at the Cape Coral Yacht club tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12:30pm. They should be blasted out of the water!

They will blame SFWMD who will blame US Fish and Wildlife. They all will parrot that majority of water backpumped into the lake came from conservation areas but not a single one can tell you volume backpumped out of ag areas to keep sugar cane fields from flooding. Politicians on both sides getting their PACs stuffed with cash are in control of the message and the water flow.

Three dead manatees today. Highest manatee mortality rate in 30 years. Sea turtles also washing up on beach with regularity. Both parties feeding at the sugar trough

Sugar Cane & Sugar Beets | OpenSecrets
Over the past two decades, there have only been three cycles in which the sugar industry contributed more to Republican candidates and party committees than to their Democratic counterparts: Way back in 1996, then in 2012 and 2016. And the GOP may be getting the sweeter deal, as sugar has grown more generous with each cycle since 2002; 2016's contribution total of nearly $8 million was an all-time high.

Leading the pack was American Crystal Sugar, a sugar-centric agricultural cooperative, which contributed almost $2.2 million; Democrats received about 51 percent of those funds. American Crystal Sugar's contributions were impressive more broadly, too, as it was the second-greatest donor of the entire agribusiness sector of which sugar is a part. Another top contributor was Fanjul Corp., which trailed American Crystal Sugar within the industry and came in fourth overall among agribusiness organizations. Fanjul gave more than $2 million in the 2016 cycle. [Read more Background]

Big Sugar is one of the last 19th century style oligarchical businesses. Its run by a few large companies and really serves no purpose other than to poison us with their "white death". Needs to be taken down like Big Tobacco. Sugar is in everything from salad dressing to shake and bake, it serves no purpose other than to get us addicted to more sugar. Sugar besides the actual factories does not have the effect of other large industries like steel or glass making when it comes to adding economic value to the adjacent communities and businesses. Disagree? Head to Bell Glade or Clewiston and tell me Big Sugar has lifted those communities up. Big Sugar like Big Agra is a huge culprit in human trafficking of grey area migrant workers. I'm a card carrying Republican but if one business needs to go away it's Big Sugar.
