In a week of that saw an epic downturn in trump's approval rating, Rasmussen Reports measures trump's national approval rating at 49%. This is a stark contrast with other reputable polls which have trump at around 34% (see below). Absent a change in ownership or a published change in methodology by Rasmussen, I propose any poster that references them in defense of a political argument be met with joyful derision. After all, an appeal to a false authority should never be tolerated among friends in civil discourse.

    How Popular Is Donald Trump?

Edit: Yes... I know this is the wrong forum. I've requested deletion or migration to Too Hot.

Sure, but what does that have to do with Grantham’s defense.

I expect that the OP intended to start this thread in a different forum, and has requested it be moved.

I lost all respect for Rasmussen when it threw a shoe at Gallup.

Rasmussen was one of the more accurate pollsters this cycle. They overestimated Trump's support, but not by as much as many others outfits overestimated Biden.

They actually weren't all that accurate. The early analyses underestimated the gap in the final win for Biden. The Washington Post relied on 51.0-47.2%, when, currently, we are at 51.4%-46.9%. That lowered the bias of those that they rated too Pro-Biden and raised the bias of those that they rated as too Pro-Trump.

True, the final numbers brings them closer to the middle of the pack in terms of the national polls. On the battleground states, though, they did a bit better than most of the other major polls and actually mostly missed towards Biden (overestimating him, but less than the others).
