State Department has ordered Gordon Sondland not to give a deposition that was scheduled for this morning.

Breaking news on CNN.com, no link, yet.

Nothing unusual about a top donor getting ambassadorship. Unfortunately that type of "pay to play" is almost standard procedure in all administrations. At least with certain "cushy" postings. I don't like it, but I'm not going to pretend it hasn't happened before. This should be blatantly illegal, but I wonder if it is (without there being something absurd, like an administration actually caught on tape taking bids).

It strikes me as a bit odd were paid through "4 LLC's". Was one of those LLC's called "Essential Consultants"?

What also makes the Sondland situation somewhat odd is that he was named Ambassador to the EU as the reward for his campaign contributions. Normally an individual in that position would not be involved in the US relationship with Ukraine, a country that isn't a member of the EU. Apparently he was also involved in the attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens, again something that would normally not be within the scope of the role the US Ambassador to the EU.

The career professionals typically handle countries that are at war. For I could reasons. But, this president doesn’t care about loyalty to alllies of it doesn’t help him personally. Blocking Sondlen today is absurd and there is no good faith basis for it. Just don’t want to hear the explanation for the texts. Or that Rudy on behalf of Trump or Trump personally directed them. This administration is simply rogue.

No but I bet I could take 1,000 of your posts, cherry pick 4 or 5, some out of context that would make you look like a Trump supporter.

This ambassador is supposedly not an ardent MAGA head, despite giving $1 Million to obtain his post as EU ambassador. He should offer his resignation immediately and offer testimony in exchange for immunity from any (potential) prosecution around the Ukraine shenanigans. Now that he's been officially subpoenaed to testify, failing to cooperate just makes him look guilty.

I think plenty of context was provided in the dozens of texts made public.

Trump called Sondland before he made the lawyerly “no quid pro quo” text.

So why not make all the text public? Why cherry pick? Unless maybe there are things you don't want seen.

You know, if there was something helpful in the “unseen” text messages, nothing is stopping the republicans from relasing those, right?

Sondland to testify now that Trump dictated his no Quid Pro Quo text.

Can’t things be simplified by impeaching Trump for sexually assaulting and/or raping 25 or so females, including a 12-year old and throwing in for good measure Trump’s walking into the Miss Teen USA pageant so he could look at undressed underage girls. This guy is unfit to be President of the U.S.

This is essentially tantamount to a bank robber, after committing an armed robbery stating "no bank robbery here, you all just gave me your money willfully, just stating for the record this was no bank robbery".

    Saul Goodman quality lawyerin'.

It's pretty obvious what happened here. Taylor basically started going on the record raising the alarms (when Sondland and trump clearly wanted their little extortion scheme to remain off record, Sondland may not have been behind the plot but clearly he recognized the possible criminal implications of what was happening). This is why Sondland said "no more texts, call me". Once the red flag was on record then Trump had to himself have someone go on record with the "no quid pro quo" claim - to try and clean it up after the fact.

Dems will lose the house 2020 because of this embarrassment.

How exactly didn't this age well? Can you lay out a logical case or are you trying to convince yourself of that? Let's see...
