Too funny! I’m convinced Randy Boyd is actually Boyd Crowder. Vols officially hire AD Danny White, school president boldly claims ‘the greatest decade in UT athletics begins now’
A smart coach who is even remotely interested will wait until he knows more about what's coming down at UT, and people from Tenn are the last people I would listen to about that. That means sacrificing the recruiting class on top of transfers. They will have to go the Jerry Faust route and hire a high school coach from Tennessee--you know , one of those guys whose high school team is the "Volunteers" , whose goat is named "Rocky Top" and who wears a UT cap to weddings .
Nebraska looks like Cinderella compared to the ugly step sister at UT. Frost would be an idiot to leave his alma mater for that.
There were a BUNCH of Tn players going into the Portal. Would we want any of them? That To'o'to'o guy and an o lineman looked pretty good last year.
NCAA probation etc does not stir the glass of Volunteer beer....it's all about money. Any coach in a Group of 6 or a weak Power 5 program would take a very hard and serious look at UT job even Before the sanctions. Why ? MONEY. If UT went to the table to say a Heupel, Kiffen, Gundy, etc with say 6 years w/ $36M guaranteed, they'd take it. Mike Gundy would go today. Gundy was punished by Okla State by having his guaranteed contract years reduced and his salary cut (I think for $4M to $3M or something like $1M) for wearing a tee shirt that had "OAN" on it...as in One America News. A tv channel for conservatives. I guess CNN or MSNBC or ABC are ok. Gundy should be real ripe for taking a hike on Okla State about 1 week before NSD and by taking all the Asst coaches and staff he wants. All of above is opinion, not based on inside knowledge.
They were starting 5 former 5-stars on their OL last year and they were still a hot mess. Doesn't say much for their OL coach who just got hired by Aubrin.
Well, it's not like university administrators are grounded in any sense of financial reality. They are all overpaid and hopelessly out of touch.
That's fascinating about Gundy's OAN t shirt, and the OKState penalty. I had forgotten about that. Seems like a free speech question and all that but not trying to turn this political. https://www.kjrh.com/news/local-new...lahoma State Athletic, wearing the OAN t-shirt.
According to this article, Gundy was the one that suggested the pay cut. Gundy agrees to take $1M pay cut after review "The changes were offered up by Mike Gundy, and I commend him for that. It was his idea to take a million-dollar pay cut," Holder said. "I think it really demonstrates his commitment to being a better coach. He wanted to make a statement that assured all the players that this wasn't just about talk, this is more about action, and that's the first step." In addition to the pay cut, Holder said the contract length was shortened from five to four years, his buyout was cut from $5 million to $4 million, and his guarantee dropped from 75% to 50%. "I want to emphasize, every one of those was offered up by Mike Gundy," Holder said.
Absolutely wild. IMO Gundy is a high character coach but not elite. Gator Nation podcast uses the term “gatekeeper” like UFC, someone that is always a solid fighter and all the elite guys need to beat to prove themselves, but never will get to the highest level. That’s Gundy - he really puts OSU fans in a tough spot because they’re always relevant but will always lose 2-3 per year.
Huh? LOLOL They were #2 for a lot longer than a few weeks. As for falling - that was my point, Sherlock.
Nah it really wasn’t long and it wasn’t like one guy dropped them just now, this happened a while ago. The only reason they were #2 is OSU/UGA/Bama etc. were nowhere near full classes yet. UT never had a shot at being top 5 even if they kept everyone. You’re just wrong.
Oh no, I'm quite correct. They were #2 for a while. Also, I never said one guy dropped them that far. My point was that last defection will contribute to their continued fall. Do you have a reading comprehension disorder?
