UT will end up with either Steele or grab some high school coach. If what is true that there are multiple Tier 1 and 2 violations, no good coach will want to coach there. Freeze would be far batter off where he is at now because UT may end up getting put on probation, no recruiting by any coaches, scholarship reductions, no bowl appearances, no CFP appearances, and may even lose revenue that the SEC receives. It's very possible UT can't even put up the money they paid Pruitt. All that for what? Until the NCAA hands down their verdict, no one is going to touch them. That's why I think Steele is there for awhile.

Please hire him Vols. He had a top 25 roster at PSU, and heleft before the sanctions had even really set in. Franklin really dealt with the recruiting hit his first two years.
O'Brien was in a one team league and had a good but short run at PSU.

I think he deserves a great deal of credit for changing the culture at Penn State, but I don't know that he proved much in the X's and o's dept
His mishandling in Houston of their roster makes him the kind of personnel guy I want in Knoxville.

Maybe with that in mind a good agent gets his client an extra million a year to take the job. It's cheaper just to hold the program together for a couple of seasons with an assistant. I don't know if Tenn can keep some of their assistants. What if Steele and some assistants are under investigation or named specifically?

A lot of programs like Tenn are hurting badly for cash so you are probably correct that they can't pay a new coach a lot of money. You are probably better than 50% to be right about Steele unless as part of the reconstruction and reconciliation they have to let him go.

They might be forced to hire a new HC but still be caught in a cash bind to do so.

I would ask David Cutcliff to give me 2 years to steady the ship and possibly groom a guy. He might go for that.

I suspect they did. No one has ever accused the Dollies of having brains. Or teeth.

Actually almost smart, they knew they were getting ready to boot Pruitt and they got Steele as HC for DC salary...

That would be a best case scenario for UT, but again, I don't see Cut doing it. He's very comfortable at Dook. Nobody's going to be comfortable at UT for a very long time

I think it would be rather funny if they hired Norvell from fsu... Tennessee will continue their failure and fsu might upgrade with a pop Warner coach!!!!

But the chancellor of the university admitting serious infractions in order to fire Pruett with cause, is going to have massive financial repercussions for UT.

Don't you know that the academicians just despise football programs? Who could blame them.

I actually pay attention to Duke because of him. He is a class act and a good football coach.

My thinking would be, the pressure is off for a while with sanctions. But agree he would not take it.

If it saves them 12 million that goes a long way to offset a program losing money.

For permission to talk to Grantham?
Or...so he can laugh in their face, go public with the offer and use it against them, all while making a fool of themselves to a rival?

Not as far as all of the lost revenue and booster support for being a suck program. And being on NCAA probation.

They are royally screwed regardless, 3 coaching busts, now with multiple NCAA infractions. Vandy has a shot to be state champs for awhile.
