Man I can’t wait to get back in the Swamp!!!
Thanks for the video!
I must be a tad starved for football. Felt some goosebumps celebrating in me body from that video. Nothing quite like a great rivalry victory in the SWAMP!
Man, I sure hope we can get a season going. Crap, I remember drinking some concoctions when I was at Florida that would kill off pretty much anything. Just about killed me.
Blessings to the Gator Nation and the rest of the world. Get healthy, develop the freaking antidote and lets get this puppy going...
IMO, one of the greatest and best games ever at the Swamp.
Definitely one of the most underrated.
In one game you had..
Tebow jump pass for a TD.
TRUE FR Riley Cooper hitting the LSU KR so hard on the opening KO of the 2nd half that he fumbled for a safety. (edit to specify 2nd half.)
On the ensuing possession after the safety, we have a 2nd and 1 on the LSU 35. All year we have brought Tebow in for short yardage, so LSU expects the same. This time Tebow fakes up the middle, then hits wide open Louis Murphy for an easy TD. This was Murphy's FIRST EVER catch as a Gator.
Tebow runs over a stud LSU defender. (Jarvis Landry?) After so many years of Leak sliding short, it was amazing to see a QB take on a defender- and RUN him over.
A huge win over a great team. LSU was probably the 2nd best team in the nation that year (they finished 3rd, but they would have crushed tOSU.)
5 takeaways from LSU- including 3 picks of future #1 pick Jamarcus Russell.
IMO, it was one of the greatest coaching jobs in Florida history
edit to fix mistake- thanks SJB612
One minor correction for Tate. The 2006 LSU game wasn’t the “birth of the jump pass.” Urban used the jump pass at Utah, and it had been “invented” many years before that. But that Tebow pass against LSU in 2006, on national television in a high profile game, certainly introduced the jump pass to a new generation of fans.
Cooper's hit was on the 2nd half kickoff. On Early Ducet, I believe.
You are correct- in my excitement of re-living the game I left that out. I will edit.
Is this game anywhere that I could watch it?
I will always regret that I was in line at the concession stand for that play. I heard it, but I didn't see it.
I believe that those two touchdowns were Tebow's first college passing touchdowns.
I also remember good ol' Mick H. saying in his characteristic fashion (after we blocked a Tiger punt): "Gator Special Teams taking apart the Tigers today in the SWAMP!"
Goosebumps just remembering that awesome day! It was all over when Timmy hit Murph for the dagger.
The best thing about this play is that Mullen set it up earlier in the game. He brought in Tebow and 3-4 backup WR and ran Tebow up the middle on 3rd and 1. When LSU saw the same formation, they defended the play as if he was going to run up the middle and Louis Murphy was wide open.
Loved that game
I would have been surprised if it was any other game.
TC is such a consummate Gator Great.
