Nope, it was Trump and Hegseth leading the renaming. Too easy to google and find plenty of articles that it was them and not the Army.

Renaming a base to its’ old name (which was based on a Confederate war general) but using the exact same name but tying it to some unknown solider, no matter how meritorious their service, is just disingenuous and you know it.

As for “you were clearly never in the Army,” WTH does that have to do with Trump wanting to reverse the names. I’ll answer for you - not a thing.

I prefer the old names too but the tripe you’re trotting out is pure garbage.

Because if you had served in the military you would understand the name of those bases are not really tied to the generals anymore and more to the culture and capabilities of the units stationed there. Unless Democrats thought they would have control of the White House for 20 straight years, changing the names of the bases was always going to result into the names being changed back when a Republican Admin came in.

Assumptions. I fully understand the soldiers that served at these bases when they were named Hood, Benning, etc. remember them by those names. I’ve got no issue with it. Truly personal history and “not hate” for them.

Maybe you’re not picking up what I’m throwing down here. I am in the Army. The Soldiers, generally speaking, never wanted the names changed. When changing the names became inevitable under President Biden, renaming the bases after Soldiers with the same last names but no Confederate history was the first compromise offered by the Army, such as renaming Fort Robert E. Lee for “Light Horse Harry” Lee. If Secretary Hegseth “led the renaming” in this way, it is because he was a Soldier back when this was first discussed and would have been aware of the proposal. For someone who thinks of Trump as a complete dumbass, you seem to be giving him a lot of credit on this one. At any rate, the point is moot. What one President can rename, the next can rename again. That’s what happens when you rule by executive fiat and just hope your party wins the next election. Can the next President just change the names right back again? You bet. But the whole Confederate nonsense won’t be much of an issue next time either. He or she will have to say things like, “But the people loved having a fort named Liberty!” or “The people demand that we have a fort named after a mail lady!”

And that's why I supported the CinC no matter what a butt wipe he may have been. My boss was my squadron CC or my immediate supervisor. I've had good and bad in both departments. Again, for the bitter pills in the back, if I were a Trump worshipper, you might have a valid post. I'm just enjoying the meltdowns here; it's classic. When I'm having a bad day a quick romp through this forum is cathartic—cheap therapy.

You were never in the military is significant to those of us serving and retired. You really have no clue except to run your mouth after consulting Google. You immediately proceed at warp speed to marginalize his experience. No surprise your gears are really grinding trying to understand my post about troops being reenlisted by the president. Run along
