people tend to look at conference results and may not realize those meets are almost always quanity over quality while nationals is the opposite. a 10 point winner in a conference track event can be easily offset by 3 or 4 from another school in a final, while at nationals the 10 point winner will not.
IDK much about swimming but this is absolutely right about track. I would add that if any team is top 3-4 in the SEC, then they absolutely can win NCAAs. We should have a shot at both men and women in track. Go Gators!!
The women’s team are sending 11 athletes and one relay team. Texas has 13 and one relay but some are not projected to score. Arkansas may be the main competition, but if the form charts hold true, the Florida women will win (of course they never seem to completely)… by the the way Anna Hall’s 2.05:33 in the Pentathlon at the SEC Championships was the fastest time in NCAA history by a women's pentathlete. Parker Valby had a qualifying time in the 3000 meters but was a scratch. The Men’s team is only sending 6, and one relay team. Fahnbulleh did not qualify in either of his two events, we didn’t qualify anyone in a jumping event, any weight event, or any distance event. Freshman Sam Austin did qualify in the 800 meters due to late scratches but is seeded last… 16th.
I heard Parker is fighting some shin issues, hope they dont follow her throughout her career because she and the girl from Jersey coming in can really elevate our distance teams. Joe should have redshirted, but I think this is his last year on campus so it would have been a moot matter. The jumps teams have been a disappointment on the meds side and I would not be surprised to see a high turnover there after the year. Sam is going to be special in the 800, he is so skinny right now, give him a year to grow into his body. They think he can be very good in the 400 also. Miley came in as an 800 guy and has now grown into 400 meter runner
