The performances by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira has a lot of people talking. It was either a gross display of sex or empowering.
I tend to think it was kind gross, myself. A little too much emphasis on butts and crotches. But then, I'm not the targeted demographic.

Jennifer Lopez, Shakira Super Bowl halftime: objectifying or powerful?

Not to mention the heavy Latino angle ....

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez stun in a stealthily political Super Bowl halftime show

I mean, it was neither. Just some middle aged women dancing. Calm down folks.

The two women disagree with you that there was no political statement.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's halftime show got political - CNN

While watching the show I mentioned to the folks I was with this is 100% going to be a controversy tomorrow for the outfits, dancing, and all the Spanish.

The outfits are really no worse than female figure skating. The only issue imo was the camera angles on some of the dancing. Very crotch-tastic. Not that I cared, because you can still see dead, dismembered bodies on network TV, which is far worse.

I don't know. I don't particularly care for either (just not my style), that was definitely not just two middle aged women dancing. As an athlete, I have an incredible amount of respect for those two maintaining that level of physical fitness as they age, it isn't easy and it gets harder every year.
One lady at the party last night noted that it is their job to be in that kind of shape and if it was her job, she would be in that kind of shape too.
I silently called BS on that one.

Ok, I mean media representation is barely a "political" statement (I would say its not political at all). If they had sang about abolishing ICE, that would have been cool and much more of a political statement.

Yeah, I think 80% of the negative reaction of some people is feeling guilty that the halftime show made them horny.

That's pop culture. Vulgar dancing? What's the big deal? Movies are vulgar, song lyrics are vulgar. I hope I live long enough to see a Super Bowl halftime show in which the women dance naked. It's only a matter of time.

Show was alright, not the best halftime show I've ever seen but nothing too outlandish. I was more impressed at what great shape those women are for their respective ages. Makes me want to hit the gym.

I don't know. Both my sisters texted me about it, calling it gross. I really doubt it made them horny.
Out of curiosity, do you have daughters? Would you want your daughter emulating that dancing? Shaking her butt, spreading her legs, crouching for a crotch shot, rubbing her crotch, etc?

I once read a description of Miami as the northernmost Latin American city. Every time I fly into MIA I get the distinct feeling of flying into an airport in a Latin American country.

People with daughters shouldn't be voting for Donald "Grab 'em by the p" Trump.

It's Miami. The Yiddish has long since moved up to Boca. Of course there was going to be a Latin theme.

All the problems in America and the two main subjects today are 1) what state is KC located and 2) Shakira's flexible hips (which, frankly, are fantastic).

No wonder we have the problems we do. Because we focus on thing that aren't really problems.

I'm sure the people bitching about half time show politics had no issue with Fox' pregame interview of the President. And vice versa.

I’m guessing that a large swath of those clutching their pearls over dancing don’t have a problem with someone paying off a porn star to hide sex while a wife was home with a newborn either. But that’s the world we live in.

I missed that, but what a surprise. Naturally Trump had to get in on it, just like he did in the college championship game, actually going onto the field. He can't get enough attention, I feel so sorry for him.

My only problem is that neither of these two have been relevant in music for years. Give me someone who is relevant or a major icon in music that still puts on a great show.
