Considering it's the dog days of summer and basketball is eons away............... We all have a pretty good idea who gets the PT (minutes) ............... but anyone care to take a stab or comment about which of these players may make an impact, and how much? Denzel's replacement: AJ Brown? Freshmen: Do these guys get any meaningful minutes? Ingram? Loyd? Maybe Minutes? Mikic Isaiah Brown What about Klavzar? Still an "off the bench gun slinger" or does he get more productive minutes spelling Lee and Fland? Kovatchev? Developmental guy or practice player? Strictly Practice: Olivier (Red Wood) Rioux Josefsberg Thoughts?
Aberdeen's replacement will be Brown. Um, which Brown? TBD. One is older and the other has been in the system for a year. Personally, I saw WAY more potential in Isaiah than I saw in Aberdeen in his freshman year. I want a nice jump in his sophomore season. Is AJ another Richard in that he is prepared to go up a weight class? We shall see. For whatever reason, it feels as if Ingram is going to surprise a few folks, at least on defense. That is what you get from a football player. Does that include minutes in key times instead of occasionally (like Klavzar was last year when Martin was healthy)? We shall see. Methinks Lloyd is Isaiah 2.0. I realize the front court is THE strength of the team next year, but depth should be what makes it truly special. That means Mikic is going to show. Hopefully better than Alexis did overall. Mikic should be a stout player on defense and shoot some quality 3s. I don't know about the help defense situation. TBD. To me, the X factor is going to be Hands. He has a nice game but was not in the same mania place as the rest of the front court. Offensive rebounding is a nice thing, as well as shooting around the basket. I hope he can play stouter on defense, which means he needs to take getting bulked up seriously. This is all about his next step. Klavzar needs to make a niche for himself - talk to Lee Humphrey - and then own it with a vengeance. Results equals minutes. End of conversation. Everyone else not starting is an end-of-game scrub. That is unless we take going to a 2-3 zone seriously. Then Oly will be a secret weapon. Otherwise, this year may be it for him at UF. It is what it is.
I think that next season we play a lot of conventional alignments instead of three guards. With all the great frontcourt talent we have why not play three front court players? At least when Haugh is on the floor.
