Nah, give me context. NCAA site reps are notoriously DBs, just ridiculously full of themselves and a crazy sense of importance of "The NCAA." Not sure what exactly transpired, but put it all out there or zip it (whether we are in the right or in the wrong). Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
One particular NCAA rep who made himself obvious on the field at Regionals for years at the Mac and at least once at a Regional at the new park. Walked from one dugout to the other across the field several times/game. Always made a show of looking things over during rain/lightning delays. Personified the NCAA to me (in a bad way). I'm willimg to hold UF coaches accountable for poor behavior, but this clown's behavior is a problem. He rants about an unamed coach, but makes it clear he means Sully. The offense is disrespecting two people, with no details at all about the substance of the problem. Was it related to the later game time? If that was a TV decision, Sully should get over it and go cash the ESPN check. Might it have been over the grounds crew getting the field ready after the late night game on Saturday? The TV crew commented on Saturday that the CC/ECU Friday game had a period of drenching rain followed by clear skies and a delay over two hours to prepare the field AFTER the rain stopped. Even then, they said, the outfield was soggy and players from both team slipped while making plays on the wet grounds. Did Sully disrespect a grounds crew that was unable to prepare the field for championship play? No doubt he's spoiled by the great drainage system at his home park, but CC makes a big deal of their nice little stadium.
Well since when was it such and unbelievable thing for a baseball coach to use some salty language when they didn't agree with officials? These guys need to run things on time and not change things to favor the home team because they slept in.
From what people have told me who were there the people running that regional did not do a very good job at all so this ranting coach running his pie hole does not mean anything to me without more details from Sully from his perspective. Maybe Sully deserves criticism or maybe he doesn’t. I have no clue without further context. Just because this coastal coach rant was said via above doesn’t make it true. You are just hearing his side of the this story only. And after the game during Sully presser he chose not to go further into it at this time.
Hmm, so Conway, SC is not considered an elite level facility and resources? I am SHOCKED! Maybe his rhetoric was less-than-generous but I seriously doubt his point was pointless or designed to give us an edge. He just wanted to lose fairly and not because of some level of incompetency from the hosts. I don't think the Coastal coach knows what IS elite level resources. But he is trying to protect what he does have. IMO, nothing wrong with either coach's takes. BTW, if you don't like playing in Bugtussle, Wyoming, try harder during the season. Unfortunately, with all the injuries this was about as good as we could get. It is what it is.
Everyone saying this needs more context is absolutely correct, but there's also a part of me that feels like whatever happened had to be particularly egregious for a first year head coach to publicly call out one of the most successful coaches in the sport.
The CC coach is a former UCF assistant in his first year and had a good season. It sounds like the game times were changed without consultation the Gators were not informed in a timely manner. Seems as those the home team was looking for an advantage. And the NCAA rep was their former head coach evidently. No conflict there at all.
I have NO idea if Sully behaved badly or inappropriately.....but this is total bush league from the Coastal coach. There is a way to handle things, and spouting off in a presser ain't it....that was showboating and little man syndrome.
One could argue, without having more context to the actual events, the same thing could be said about Sully in this situation.
Pressers are not the only way to make a public scene. I get it, this is a fan board and we must protect us vs. them but it sounds like Sully made an ass of himself in public too. But it's ok because it wasn't a presser, you're right. He's an us.
Sully acknowledged an issue but refused to get into into any specific details with the reporter who asked him about it. Sully did not do in his presser what this other coach did in his presser that is posted above. If you go to the nonfree board here you can see in the game thread about more details about what got Sully hot in the first place. There is more stuff going on than what this Coastal Carolina coach did not say in his presser. Doing the we did not do anything card is not exactly right. Not exusing either party but there are two sides to what happened thus the lack of context in evaluating things beyond what this video is talking about.
Ah, somebody questions an idea, and your retort is to claim that we're defending Sully just because he's one of us. Did anybody here actually defend Sully? We don't even know what he did or what he said? Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
