If this doesn’t go anywhere, then Congress has totally lost its power to call witnesses …

Yep, it means congressional subpoenas are not worth the paper they are printed on. No oversight, no accountability, and executive branch above the law. Good times.

Only for the privileged. 202 GOP members voted against holding someone in contempt for not showing up when subpoenaed. The party screaming about elites giving preferential treatment to members of its ruling class. To the cheers if it’s supporters. once again laid bear for all to see. Even if there is a basis to asset executive privilege to some questions, there isn’t to every question. So, Bannon’s failure to come is in bad faith and contemptuous of the subpoena. Not even a close call. The House needs to man up and have him picked up and locked up until he shows up to the committee. That is civil contempt. They should not have to depend on a referral.

Yup. I thought Congress had the power to send out the Sargent at arms to enforce the subpoena? Even voting for the referral is kind of weak, they should have voted to have the Sargent at arms bring him before Congress and detain him if necessary.

His rights allow him to appear and plead the 5th. It is his constitutional right to not incriminate himself in any criminal activity he may have done. It is NOT his right to ignore a subpoena. The republicans are an embarrassment. Party of law and order lmao, inothing but an organized crime ring.

Republicans have shown their true colors and it is ugly. How could any law abiding citizen vote for any Republican, as they are 'all' now complicit in the destruction of our Republic by giving aid and shelter to domestic terrorists?

When was the last time a big name in politics went to jail for committing felonies from either party. What you liberals need to understand is that the ruling elites don't care about any of us.

Nice attitude, dadx4. I agree that the politicians are self serving SOBs for the most part :) but I am sure there are some good people in that group. Unfortunately, I believe that if this traitorous act was carried out by a democratic affiliated president and his cronies you would be yelling from the mountaintop to lock them up. And Trump would be leading the charge (lock her up! ring any bells?)

Just because Trump pardoned all of the corrupt figures convicted in his term (Flynn, Collins, and Hunter- who all happened to be Republicans) doesn't mean it is a both sides issue. Weiner went to prison. Fattah went to prison. Corrine Brown went to prison. Dennis Hastert went to prison. Grimm went to prison. Rick Renzi went to prison (before Trump pardoned him). Jesse Jackson Jr. went to prison.

So if you admit that ruling elites like Trump don't care about you, why do you go balls to the wall defending his honor?

Why wouldn't all called before the Committee simply plead the 5th for every question? Garland will need to prosecute some of these domestic terrorists including Trump after Biden de-classifies all WH communication leading up to and including the 01/06 insurrection. Prosecute the Insurrectionists, now and not later!

There are some exceptions, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger come immediately to mind and they are being treated as pariahs by their fellow Republicans.

Show me one time where I did. I never wanted him as Prez, I wanted the neurosurgeon but I would vote for a pile of horse chit before I ever live in a socialist country.

Never gonna happen just like all the other nothing burgers that you liberals tried on Trump. If I had a dollar for every time a liberal would say "we got him now" I would be a multimillionaire...oh wait...lol.
