Sunday: must be an unofficial practice... on the way to men’s tennis - noon - half the Team is out in RF throwing, right now. Other half having a mini scrimmage on the in field with pitcher/but no batter.

now Lars has them doing relays from outfield

bell in the outfield instructing depth of cut off men, etc

Or, maybe, due to the shortened Saturday practice, they decided to add a Sunday (short) practice??

    @bogeyfred
Did you mean to disagree with me on post number 4? I'm confused if so. I didn't think I was trying to be opinionated.

Obviously a mistake. Post 3 was all “fact based” observations. Can’t quibble over ground out vs fly out, can you?

Since we are still waiting on an official 2020 roster, for those in the know, any word on the status of Garett Milchin, Hunter McMullen or Felix Garcia? I really appreciate the practice updates provided here and noted that none of the 3 gentlemen in question had been mentioned yet. Thanks.

Kirby has won the DH spot. I see no other player who could challenge him for this role. He has hit in the fall and so far in both games this spring.

It is just my observation but I do not think Blassuci will be in the lineup. I think the SS job is Rivera's at this point and as long as he makes routine plays it will remain his job. I think he will be allowed to go through the ups and downs offensively as long as he is playing good D. It is not a knock on Blassucci but I remember during the Fall O&B series he struggled in all three games. At one point he tried to bunt with one or two strikes and a player yelled something like why are you bunting. He responded with something along the lines of I am ohfer the last ten. He was brought in as a pitcher and I am not knocking him. I just think there is too much future potential with Rivera so you let him play every day. This lineup should be able to score runs so allowing him to gain this year is good in the long run for us!

Milchin wasn't at the practice I went to BUT he was the player who addressed the crowd at the basketball game so he is still around - presumably still recovering. Felix Garcia is no longer with the team (I seem to think he was a Senior last year). Hunter McMullen has not be on the field for any practice I have seen.

It’s been a while, he passed back on 05/28/2014.

He did play at FSU in 1983—he was a relief pitcher drafted that year by the Pirates—also played with the White Sox and Mariners

Talked to a couple of players, he is on the mend and doing rehab from TJ, aiming for a return to the mound in late season, probably better to redshirt

Went by for 3 innings before the Dugout Club event

Kirby is hitting the ball very well but I don't think Sully has made up his mind and may very well use both Kirby and Nick depending on the situation

Pitching chaos as usual....at leadst its newbies this time, somewhat to be expected I guess. Apparently Mink wasnt injured if he is already back out there.

If I'm keeping score you have Ocala hitters going 4 for 4 today with 1 HR 2 doubles and a single. Hoping I get the chance to come up tomorrow.
Very glad that Mink is back out there. Thanks for the update.

Agree completely on the probably better to red-shirt. It’s worked out the same for a lot of years and pitchers now—

Soft tossers or “cunny thumpers” can come back and be their kind of effective in the 12-15 month window. It takes a solid 24 months for a power guy to get back to his true game speed—all of the in between work (and there is a ton) is referred to as “getting your work in”.

DD has been helping with outfielders and baserunners. It appears he will be the first base coach. Fontana has been helping Jeroloman with the infielders.
