FSU football: Impact of hiring Adam Fuller as defensive coordinator
Haven't seen it mentioned
I haven't heard it viewed either...
Went from 39 points a game to 24??
Talk about polishing a turd
Kinda funny article, they're puffing up this hire big time even though he's never coached a D at the P5 lvl. lol
Not actually a homerun hire. A guy who has never really coached at a power five school before. Maybe he is an unknown genius but I think this is good for us.
I looked through some of the stats on Memphis games. The teams they played with any sort of pulse on offense moved it up and down on them it seems like.
Uses a 4-3
Fsu needs an 8-6...
And the recruits have to be going .. . "WHO"? He may improve them by default, but if he can't recruit it won't last.
I was about to post something like this was unlikely to stop the recruiting hemorrhaging but decided to read ahead first this time. We seem to be very like minded today.
"...Their yards per play average went from 5.61 to 5.23."
Well, they had to hire someone.
That's over a foot per play.
Most other teams could gain that back by doing the hokey pokey at the LOS..
In his 6 years as a D coordinator, his defenses have gone up against P5 teams 7 times:
2014- Chattanooga- 45 vs. Tennessee
2015- Chattanooga 52 vs. Florida State
2016- Chattanooga- 31 vs. Alabama
2017- Chattanooga- 45 vs. LSU
2018- Marshall- 37 vs. NC State & 41 vs. Virginia Tech
2019- Memphis- 10 vs. Ole Miss (we all know how bad they were this year)
Hopefully this keeps the FSU's defense right where it's been.
Any FSU press will make be pumping crazy sunshine for every decision Norvell makes.
Might be better than we think with talent. It’s not as if he had equal or better rosters than the teams that pulverized his defense.
BTW, post game reporters were merciful to Taggart during pressers- very kind. I bet they will be less so with Norvell. That’s right, I went there.
Memphis guy brings a memphis guy.
