I wish him the best. I, too, have always liked Bruce. He definitely raised the entertainment level of SEC basketball and played a big role in making it the best basketball conference in the country.

 

I love the guy, love his sense of humor, love the role he played in the life of our incredible head coach.

But I also wonder about the timing of this...

The funniest part? A tweet where he criticized LeBron for the Bronny nepotism. So here he goes and waits until the last minute to force Auburn to retain his son.

 

It’s just my belief, but I don’t believe that your last sentence is accurate. My guess is that Bruce Pearl’s retirement and the hiring of his son were fully vetted with the athletic director and then discussed with the players before Bruce Pearl‘s retirement was finalized. As for Steven Pearl taking over as head coach, I have serious doubts that they could have found anyone better to take over the program than him.

I will concede your point and admit that mine was conjecture.

The last point though seems a reach. I don't believe Steven has ever been a head coach, anywhere, ever. In fact, I don't believe he has ever coached for anybody except his dad.

Seems like Pearl has been making a spectacle of himself lately. He must be saddened to know he will never win the big one. It’s over after the Gators kicked his azz twice . So sweet.
Labatard has some more info that doesn’t make this sudden “retirement” of.( Wilbon as well )lifelong cheater (and really, was there a better home for Pearl than Auburn the school with by far the longest history of repeated NCAA violations ) Pearl look good. Looks like his ego got the better of him and he’d lost the team.
We should beat them by 20 at home this year.. Condon and Rueben are going to dominate.
