Sources: Pearl to retire as Auburn hoops coach

This is a surprise to me. Guess we'll see how Steven Pearl does as the Auburn head coach. Curious to see what impact this will have on the Auburn roster going forward in this crazy NIL world we now live in.

Also it would be wild if Bruce ends running for and winning Tommy Tuberville's open U.S. Senate seat.

Wow. Well, he would fit in well in DC.

I dunno, but he was mumbling something about "the student is now the master," or something like that.

Looks like his son is the Associate Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator. I wonder if he'll take over, at least in an interim role.

No doubt. Pearl basically left them with no choice. Today is the first official day of practice I believe. He made sure his son would at the very least be interim for this season.

Great coach and mentor. Congrats on your retirement, Coach.....you will be missed, although I suspect we'll see you in the broadcast booth in some capacity.!

That would be great. I think Bruce would be excellent on a broadcast or in the studio. Alas, I bet he's taking those skills to DC.

I agree Bazza. I love Bruce Pearl. He is a great ambassador for the game with a ton of charisma. He was also great for the SEC. I will miss him. Plus he loved Billy D., which I was always grateful for. And he obviously loves Todd Golden.

And for all the naysayers about Bruce, “every saint has a past every sinner has a future”

“Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”

If he had any integrity, he would have retired after his last loss. This is his true color, good riddance.

If he felt the team was as good as last years...good enough to win a title would he still have retired? I doubt it.

    Timing is interesting.

There have been rumors of a political career, however my gut feeling is something medical was discovered.

    Hope I’m wrong.

    NO RUMOR

Pearl will be going the Tommy Tuberville route and is running for office. I'm not 100% sure what office but probably the other senate seat.

Pearl’s primary violation was an illegal cookout for a recruit which he then lied about to the NCAA. That gave him quite an advantage.
