Walking around lawfully carrying an AK47 is not grounds to be murdered.

But it does dramatically alter the range of interactions with others.

I’ve always been of the belief that introducing a firearm into a situation that doesn’t already have firearms involved greatly increases your chances of getting killed.

However, that's not what I was responding to. Unless there is more to the story than we've read so far the person who drove into the crowd was the instigator of the trouble.

Yes, it will often trigger a fight or flight response. If you approach a car with a firearm you have no idea how the person in the car will respond.

Indeed it isn't. But that fact isn't enough to undo the murder.

I think if you are walking around carrying a firearm (either openly or concealed) it would be in your best interest to try to avoid confrontation as much as possible. Legally he was fine to approach the car but obviously the person felt threatened and acted out. I have no idea though if the person in the car would have acted similarly to an unarmed person since they appear to be the person instigating.

Perhaps more succinctly, putting yourself into bad situations increases the likelihood of bad outcomes. Just being at any of these protests, armed or unarmed, puts you squarely in a potentially volatile scenario. One that could escalate very quickly without warning.

Do you think it is coincidence the guy carrying the AK47 is the one who gets shot? Is it possible that gun gave him a false sense of security causing him to approach the car?

We agree on something. Walking around a BLM / Antifa protest with a Russian assault rifle might be your right as an American.

    Probably not wise though...

it’s a combo of the two. He was in a high risk situation AND openly carrying a gun. Incredibly stupid.

I believe I saw where he was walking towards the car with the ak in the low ready position. Others have said he actually fired the gun before being shot.
There are a lot of unanswered questions here.
I can fully understand someone fearing for their life, surrounded by "protestors" impeding his car and one approaching with with an AK 47.

Given that others have been in a similar situation and have had a gun shot into the car....it is a scary situation.

Open carrying is a bad tactical decision

You're probably asking the wrong person. I'm of the opinion that stupidity generally breeds stupidity.

Can't read the Times article. Was he shot or run over? Did the driver of the car shoot him?

It can also get you arrested for protecting your property in places like ...Missouri.

Proud to live in Kentucky, where concealed carry is the law. We have an A+ rating from the NRA and most of our officials here maintain an A rating with the NRA. Of course, both McConnell and Paul have A+ ratings.

It should when your dumb ass is out in the yard threatening people who aren't on your property with and assault rifle. If you want to be armed for protection, retreat to a safe space and shoot at people that are actually threatening you.
