Yea, I know. I already said that she needed to be released from her LOI, and that it’s likely she’s already been released. I’ve not seen any player in any sport be denied a release from their LOI in the last decade. Could have happened, but seems like it would have been newsworthy. We released a high profile basketball recruit and football recruit, both last year. Nobody is held accountable these days, and the ncaa will likely release her even if ole miss won’t or hasn’t already.

I also already said that her situation was different from Skylar’s, and I’m fully aware of why Skylar had to sit and that she could have played if she left the conference. She also could have been cleared by her ex coach. He had the opportunity to waive it and chose not to. NCAA didn’t have the opportunity to release Skylar as it was a conference rule holding her up.

Uh, that is irrelevant. Has to be the head coach to be a factor.

I am not a sunshine pumper but give CTW props. He has recruited 3 of the top 12 pitchers in the nation for 2023. He now has an excellent on paper staff for the next 4 years. Fall ball should be very interesting!!

Any reason why she was not in the picture of nrw additions?

That may have influenced her decision but does the NCAA care? Does anyone know for sure? I highly doubt the change of an assistant coach qualifies as a reason for immediate release.

if you posted her twitter announcement as proof of her move due to the change of an assistant coach, I am not disputing that may have been something that influenced her but that doesn't mean it qualifies for an immediate release from her NLI. I can't find anything that confirms you can get an immediate NLI release due to an assistant coaching change and even tried to find something that confirmed you could get it with a "position coach change". Nothing. Also, it doesn't stretch imagination too far to consider the possibility she is also using that situation to justify in her mind and to those at Ole Miss why she is dumping them.

You’re being so negative. She’ll be eligible. Kids get released from the LOI’s all the time for no reason at all other than a change of heart.

I'm the one being negative? That gave me a good chuckle. I am thrilled Olivia is coming to UF. That's not what this discussion has been about. There has been no official release I have seen that confirms she is eligible immediately although it highly possible, if not probable, that she is. The confusion is the apparent belief of some that an assistant coaching change, even a position coach, qualifies for an immediate release from a NLI. I doubt that and can't find anything that confirms that. What I did find, and posted above, seems to directly contradict that. None of this is positive or negative. Just a search for the facts.

There’s never much official info for UF softball. You know this. There’s been no info out of the Ole Miss camp either.

Like I already told you multiple times, it’s common practice nowadays to release a player from their LOI if requested. If Ole Miss refuses to do so for some reason, the NCAA will likely release her anyway. That’s the precedent for as long as I can remember, definitely since the portal era began. She likely requested her release and had it granted before she even visited here. You’re too wrapped up in the wording of the rules instead of what’s been actually happening for years.

Look at what’s happening outside of softball occasionally, and my posts on the other thread will make more sense to you too. I wasn’t being negative, just telling you what it is.

Although the link I posted refers to her as a "signee", I had no purpose other than to show what she herself posted.

Curious, how does the 13th rated player/12th rated pitcher in the 23 class who dreamed of playing softball instate get allowed to go to Ole Miss in the first place?
