One of these 8 teams will be in OKC so I have hope the Gators can be just consistent enough to get the job done. This draw, to me, was as good as we could have hoped for considering the year we had and finishing 8th in the SEC. Stanford Long Beach State Loyola Marymount Florida Charlotte Campbell George Mason Duke
I hope you are right, but the Gators pitching is the problem. Delbrey has pitched only 2 innings in the last 4 games, so it looks like we are down to the EH/RT combo-how long can that hold out?
I really don't think we get there, but if you look at all the other potential Super Regional matchups, I think this is the weakest field, thus giving us at least a puncher's chance.
seems to be a double-edged sword, pitching wise this year. way too many walks/hbp/ wp., but then when the ball is put in play unusually poor defense this year
You are 100% correct. In the last Tennessee game if we had not walked anybody or made any errors that game would have ended up 1-0 or tied after seven.
Missori.......That is not good enough. You have to give me the field plus odds of at least five to one. This current Oklahoma softball team has to be one of the most dominant division one programs in any sport of all time.
FYI.....Last year before any WCWS games were played but the field was set Oklahoma was a -170 favorite which basically means you bet $170 to win $100. I would expect them to be a bigger favorite this year.
the power of the transfer portal, it is easy now to transfer to oklahoma and win a ring than to try and win one at another school.
Top 3 finalists announced for player of the year UCLA- Maya Brady Clemson- Valerie Cagle Florida- Skylar Wallace
I think Valerie gets it. It's usually a pitcher who wins the award. Skylar definitely deserves it. Hopefully she and the gators will be at the WCWS so she can accept it with her teammates..
Agree with you except the part about Cagle winning. (May be wishful thinking on my part) Most of the time pitchers do win the award, although a few have been 2-way players like Cagle. But the last 2 years Jocelyn Alo won it and she's just a pure hitter. Michigan 2nd baseman Sierra Romero won it in 2017. Lauren Haeger won it for us in 2015 as a 2-way player and Kelly Barnhill won in 2017. Rachel Garcia, 2 way player from UCLA, won it in 2018 & 2019. I'm sure hoping Wallace wins it. If our team was better I think there would be little doubt.
I think whoever goes the furthest in the tournament wins it. Congratulations to Skylar. She probably is the best division 1 softball player in the country
There are 296 division one softball teams and 6,108 girls on division one rosters. What Skylar has done this year is remarkable. Even though the team has not lived up to expectations, but they will, Skylar has. She has given this fanbase much to cheer and be exited about.
Announcer said during the FSU game against Marist that Seminoles have seven pitchers with 40 or more innings this year. We have three.
Announcer didn't have their facts right. I just went to the FSU softball website. FSU DOES have 7 pitchers on their roster, but only 4 have pitched more than 40 innings. Their starter today, Mack Leonard, had 26 innings and 2 other girls have 8.0 and 6.1 innings in the circle. But your point is valid. We don't have the number of reliable pitchers on our staff that other top programs have. That needs to change in the off season.
Don't believe everything you hear on TV. I checked the stats. FSU has four pitchers that have pitched more than forty innings. They have used eight different girls as pitchers this year
