It serms to me that for the most part the staff in working on the 25 class. If Napier is gone after next season, he nor the 25 recruits seem to be aware of it. To their credit the current staff is all in on recruiting for the future. The 25 guys seem to think CBN will be at Uf. TBH , i hope he is. So we as fans can look to NSD in which UF may add no one. The portal is done unless a couple of Bama guys decide to leave but that window is closing. So we can look to the after spring portal which i expect will see some movement. Stay tuned
And is it me or has CBN and staff come out swinging with regards to offers. Everyday Im Reading about multiple offers to kids from coast to coast. I like the energy the staff is recruiting with.
as we’ve all mentioned, recruiting hasn’t and won’t be a problem under Napier (OL HS recruiting not withstanding). Just have to win on the field to keep them in the fold
Might want to win a few more on signing day too....if he makes it to the next Dec one. I'm rooting for him.
to be fair, it isn’t the time of year for other programs to negatively recruit Napiers stability at UF. That comes closer to signing day for this class. I am surprised at all the California offers. Mullen tried that (especially with Ron English on staff) and it seemed a lot of wasted resources. I’d prefer being all over the state of Florida , especially in the era of the transfer portal as the farther from home a player is it likely increases the chance of transferring - but if we can snag some California talent like we have Texas would be nice.
DJ Lagway said in an interview a while back that CBN told him he would be calling plays in 2024. I hope he hires an offensive coordinator, but to his detriment don't think he will.
If he doesn’t find some efficiency and better feel for when to take risks it could be. We saw McElwain put undue pressure on the defense with a putrid offense then Mullen put undue pressure on his offense with putrid defense. To Billy’s credit he looks like he’s made some great adjustments to the defense both in personnel and coaches. 5-7 wasn’t solely on the defense and special teams. If he doesn’t hire an OC, he’s going to need to figure things out quickly against this schedule.
Would be nice if a starting WR, DE or OL became available in the spring portal. Otherwise, our roster looks pretty set going into the fall.
Why you think that is? Why do you think we entered October ranked 3rd in recruiting but by the end of the ESD we were ranked 15th? 6th in the nation in average player ranking ONLY team in the top 15 in recruiting with 5 or less wins 5 top 100 players Recruiting is NOT a problem, winning is
Fix the defense! Say it over and over. The offense will be better. Fix the defense! If an OC is not available, fix the defense! We must have a top ten defense! Might need an OC to win all of them but HAVE TO FIX THE DEFENSE!
My thoughts as well. I mean, if it takes wins to get recruits, CBN is way over performing in recruiting. Of course, this compliment is about like saying “you know…. For a fat girl, you don’t sweat much.” still, I believe it’s an indication of an overall move in the right direction.
