Don't recall the names now, but that's the kind of aero background I'm talking about.

I had Millsaps and Eisenberg. Didn't know about Millsaps' session drumming. It was an impressive department for sure! Congrats on being part of it!

Yeah, Boda was likely Civil. Did you know Courtland Collier, sometimes mayor of Gainesville? He taught engineering economics (time value of money, rates of return, etc.). I was Collier's TA for a couple of years as a grad student, and he paid me to review a textbook he was writing to look for grammatical errors. I was one of those odd engineering students who had some decent (not great) English skills as well. ;)

I knew of Courtland Collier. I helped a friend beat him in a local political race. In fact I wrote the very first political website in Florida for her. It was on our local freenet.

Millsaps was a really good drummer back in the day. No Gene Krupa or Buddy Rich, but he did play with some big name stars at times. Even played at the White House.

We lived across the street from Court for many years until he passed away. My wife was president of the Yale alumni club and Court would occasionally host events.
Trying to remember Gainesville political history—was that Pegeen you helped? There was a candidate forum by the Chamber or similar group and her opponent went through his resume, and she said she wasn’t sure she could beat him on that, but she thought she could win the swimsuit competition

Been watching Ozark lately. Good show! Breaking Bad in Schitt's Creek, without the comedy.

I have been making a new spice rack for our pantry: red oak and finished with boiled linseed oil. One more coat of oil and then let it rest for a couple of weeks before installing. Very simple lines because my wife likes things that are Shaker or Mission Style.

    Yikes!

What is sold as boiled linseed oil actually has additives that are not food safe!

My older brother texted me a picture of me in my youth (maybe 12 years old or so, so a long time ago) with a stringer of 8 to 10 Spanish mackerel for my birthday last week. I caught them all within 30 minutes at a fishing pier on the Ding Darling reserve on Sanibel back in the late '60's. My dad and I went back the next day and gave away a lot of fish. The mackerel where biting so hard that we didn't even have to bait our hooks. They would bite an unbaited hook.

I have never had fishing like that before or since.

Old school oil finish. Oil or shellac is the best way IIMHO. I like it.

Good times! The first time I experienced this was at Fort DeSoto.

Finished up the 3rd and most recent season of Ozark today and really liked it, although they really could have done with a few thousand less eff-bombs. That's lazy writing trying to pass itself off as edginess to a semi-literate nation, in my opinion. But it's a good show nonetheless.
Checked out Space Force, with Steve Carell next. First episode, meh. Second episode, double-meh, and done. I have this weird expectation that comedy ought to be funny.

So I am guessing you are not a fan of The Big Lebowski.

Or you are the character Sam Elliot played in the movie?
