I wish what I said wasn’t true with so many beneficiaries. Unfortunately the ones who use the benefits for their intended purpose have to abide by the rules.

    My 2 cents

If that’s condescending, then so be it.

It probably isnt, since you are basing this on your own limited observations rather than substantiated facts or data across the country. Really no way to make public policy, but I suppose the all the "rules" make certain people not on public assistance feel better, and that's what's important.

What’s important is the benefits being used as intended. No more, no less.

Well, 'intended' by you and people like you who want to make rules for other people. Its just money for food, but some people want to be like "not that food, candy is a treat for special boys and girls."

I disagree. Always have. Just give people money. It is the most efficient way to make them better off. See post #2.

Just in case, I called Publix and the local 7 Eleven and asked them if anyone can buy candy or sodas at their stores. They both said yes. lol

Yea let’s get rid of the rules on government food assistance. That’s a great idea. “Would you like a pack of cigs with your 6 pack”? LOL

Recently started shopping at Ingles and noticed they mark many of the food items with a red label indicating “EBT approved”. Their private label tortilla chips are approved and are really good!!

The thing is if someone pulled out a debit card/cash and paid for their candy separately after using an EBT card for the food the government says you are allowed to have, people like you'd be screaming "fraud" because OMG that person has enough money to buy candy! If they set foot in a "late model" vehicle or pulled out a cellular phone after that, god help us.
