South Dakota is smarter than Cali, Florida and Texas. One spot below North Dakota.

Must be a bunch of Einstein’s sitting up there smarter than Silicon Valley.

Jersey at #2? I give up...

this is exactly what Northern Virginia sold Amazon HQ2 on (for better or worse, and in addition to proximity to federal agencies, but multiple bidders offered that)

    Grew up in Fairfax, Virginia.
Thoughtful, intelligent folks but they don't exercise very much.
You can buy a gun on any street corner but don't ask for alcohol.
Oh no, you have stand in line at ABC liquor because it's dangerous.
Out west here in California is a wonderful balance of mind and body.
Liquor and women are plentiful while smoking, guns and bad weather are scarce.

Demographics no doubt play a role. As does economics. The appearance of so many southern states on the low end, however, should not be surprising to anyone since it is part and parcel of centuries of entrenched structural economic disadvantage.

New England crushing that. Even back water Maine is among tops in IQ (horrible HS grad rates, but crazy high common sense up heah).

Whoa now! The ABC store right across the street is in and out!

But I did get a good deal on a gently used .357 there the other day.

Same here. Born in Tampa, live in Austin. But I love getting back to Tampa a few times a year.

And yet thousands are moving into Florida each week. Guess the weather takes precedence over education for many people.

I read an article a while back, the number one reason people move to Florida is affordable housing.

Born/raised in #6 and as an adult lived in 11,12,23,32......41. So Florida is the dumbest place I’ve lived apparently. Floridaman now makes sense.

Virginia ABC stinks. It’s ok for stock-the-bar shopping but I always go into DC for exotic & special order-type stuff. Lots of really great liquor stores in DC (Schneider’s on Capitol Hill being my usual favorite).

I love Cali. Never lived there but most of my trips out there have been a blast. I always find it really stimulating culturally and in terms of the natural environment
