The fall off in his yards per catch last year is interesting -- he went from 14.9 YPC and 13.5 YPC at Tech to 9.2 at Auburn. I'm prepared to chalk that up to being one of the only reliable pieces on a poorly coached team without much of a passing game, but it is something that stood out.
Auburn was mostly losing and their coach got fired. GT was mostly winning. Auburn more likely faced better defense also.
Some AU fan on another board said he wasn’t that great but admitted it could’ve been due to Freeze. Too bad we couldn’t have gotten Coleman.
Against popular belief, I'd rather have singleton. With vb3 and wilson, it would be difficult to have Coleman at the same time. Singleton knows Faulkner. I think it's a much better fit - and use of nil
I would look no further than QB play at GT, vs what Auburn had last year. He was also not the number 1 option at Auburn like he was at GT. Watch that UGA vs GT game from 2 years ago and thats enough to sell me on him.
If the popular belief is wanting Coleman over Singleton, that is about potential over production. Singleton outproduced Coleman at AU. He was the top receiver at GT also. As someone who knows Faulkner's system, he is perfect for a new beginning of season starter and could be a mentor for our young talented receivers. I doubt our fans yet realize how big a deal this get was, and i for one am fired up about it. We already have other potential gamechangers here. Having another would be great but not as crucial as this.
Auburn's OL was also a hot mess. The QB didn't have much time to throw it. You would've thought that they wouldn't have brought in a QB that didn't handle pressure well like Arnold exhibited the prior year at Oklahoma.
One of the YouTube guys said that Singleton was projected 2nd round by the NFL evaluators. No reason to come back to college but to kick ass and increase your stock. I think you'll see an extremely motivated guy which will improve his worth and push the younger talent in the WR room.
I totally agree!!! And if Gator Nation would pay attention to the reaction of sportswriter's, they would easily recognize Singleton is a huge get!
Great pick up, and no doubt we have studs on offense, however I'm more concerned on the DL side. If we are going to play more zone, we need DL that can dominate the LOS. So, I'm hoping we pick up some really good DL.
Yet I saw ESPN and their blueblood worshipping, they could not help themselves. They ignored this get and posted that one of our rivals got Auburn's #2 receiver. No bias there. ... none... lol. College football sports "journalism" is a joke really.... I am sure Indiana is chaffing their as* this year. One small blurb on Freeman at ND him getting in some kind of altercation at his kid's hockey game. That would have been us... front page news and Finebaum, Pate and McAfee wouldn't shut up about it, I am sure. Only 6-8 teams are allowed to win it all... says ESPN Rant over.
