Ehh...it's kinda no different than when we "pushed" Corral out back in 2017

Except we went hard after fields and flipped Jones from osu (interesting link I hadn’t thought of), Norvell is trying to steal a USF recruit

    He doesn’t fit Stoop’s offense.

Norvell went to visit simms at home. I doubt he took the time to go all the way to his home in Jacksonville to let him know he was being processed out.

more than likely simms didnt like what he saw and made the move.

on the topic of FF. If im him my number one choice is Duke. Cutcliff is a great qb coach and his qb just graduated.

I have no idea, but Mullen did this to Corral.
Mullen visited him in CA, took pictures, etc.
Then the next day Corral de committed.

IMO its the right thing to do- if you think the QB wouldn't fit your offense.

We really didn't have to go hard for Emory though, Urban pushed him out and told him to go to UF and learn under Mullen. Point taken though

Tuesday's Take: Emory Jones is Next Year's Quarterback

"The rumors had already started. Ohio State commit Emory Jones was most likely not going to stick with the Buckeyes on National Signing Day on Dec. 20, 2017. Then-Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer was straight up with the Franklin, Georgia, prospect.

And Jones was not blind, either. OSU's QB room at the time was full, and that was before the arrival of current starter Justin Fields. Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins were both there ready to compete for the starting gig. Tate Martell was a 5-star in high school who at the time, everyone thought could be a future sensation.

So, realistically, Jones knew it would be three or maybe even four years before he had a legitimate shot to be the main signal caller in Columbus, Ohio. So, Meyer told his commit that if he doesn't stick with the Buckeyes, he should go develop under Meyer's old offensive coordinator and current Florida head coach Dan Mullen. "

Wow- I didn't know Urban recommended Emory come here. That is pretty cool.
Can we stop with the Urban Meyer hate now, then?

Edit: not directed at you Mr. Baker.

Yep. The hate between some of our fans and the Meyer's is one sided. Urban loves Gator Nation.

Yea like I understand why, at the time, people were ticked with Urban but I never hated him back then and I don't hate him now. He's always been Pro-Gator after he left.

I'm a big Urban fan. He may be the best coach in college ball. I know Saban has won more titles, but he did it at Alabama where cheating is institutionalized.

Meyer is also good friends with Mullen.

You guys have short memories. Now that he's not coaching the only thing he is doing is trying to polish his image. He is a fantastic coach, but a first-class douchebag. He was when he was coaching here at UF, and he still is now. A good example:

That doesn't bother me. Recruiting is a dirty game. I don't care about coaches being a "douche bag" or not. I've always liked Urban and nothing is going to change that.

Urban is not perfect but it's time for UF fans to let the hate go IMO. He has been, is now and will be an asset to the program.

Agreed. Some people just need to stop being butt hurt about Meyer and leave it alone. He won us a couple championships and yet there is soo much hate for him leaving the way he did. Meyer does love Gator Nation and has shown it

Nope not at all. People just excited about FSU losing some of their top recruits. Jeff Sims was someone who they were planning to build around as they were extremely excited about him. Funny because I was on a FSU board and some of them were trying to talk themselves into thinking he wasn’t even that good because he was once a 3 star.

I really don't follow Ohio State closely enough to know, but I'm not sure any university has the long, well documented history of NCAA infractions that Alabama does. It's a way of life there.
