Hard to have backup plans when kids that are "locked in" up until the last days flip. Sure there are a few that give some early notice but the guys that reaffirm commitments only to "shock the world" do a lot of damage along the way. Kids are subject to their influences and if their coaches and parents support that behavior that's where the blame lies.

Some Wisky sites had the team saying he runs a 4.46.

Maybe I tried hard enough I would figure out what this has to do with my post. But, won't bother.

What a perfectly strange response. I am old; but I think I know that civil rights laws do not guarantee anyone the "right" to play for pay anywhere, whether White, Black, or Rainbow. Ask Kapernick who tried to play that card.

Who the heck are you slapping dislikes on posts when people merely ask questions? I was genuinely curious why we had a lot less signees vs other programs.

I am generally not a big fan of message football fan dystopian negativity, but I seriously doubt that is the issue here. You have 2 losing seasons and there is going to be a lot of chatter in the media about “hot seats” and it really is opposing coaches and staff that are beating the recruits over the head with this stuff. I doubt negative message board fans really move the needle.

The biggest reason? They have more upperclassmen graduating or going pro.

We're already the youngest program in the conference, so I'm not worried about taking a smaller class, especially considering the quality we got.

You seem knowledgeable enough about the situation to not need to ask rhetoricals. Just be a fan. Hopefully that’s why we’re all here

No, I was actually curious and didn’t have a motive. I’m not here posting in this forum everyday. Who are you to assume what my motives are?

I’m not a big fan of posters who hide behind their pc screens because they clearly have nothing useful to say but throw around dislikes like they are some sort of message board sunshine pumping hall monitor. If you don’t like the post, have the guts to actually reply and say something.

“My question is why we had the lowest HS signees in the top 19?”
There’s no way you asked this question without a motive. Maybe I’ve got you all wrong

I see some schools that often seem to have 25+ classes. However, my recollection is often UF had comparatively smaller classes- going back as far as Urban Meyer. I don’t follow this stuff professionally. My recollection decades ago in FL is the highly rated FL kids tended to wait until the last minute and you held open spots of which you may or may not succeed. But that doesn’t seem to be the case now.

Maybe it’s the decommits but it didn’t seem like we had that many targeted in the first place.

I read on 247 that 19 of the 22 will be here for the spring. If I remember correctly just Chiles, Jackson and Mascoll will be the only fall enrollees.

Personally, back up plans should just include singing a larger class/having more kids committed in the event..

    1) players decommit
    2) players enter the transfer portal later on
    3) players just don’t work out in the transition to college (talent, skill, grades, injury, etc)

all schools have to deal with these issues. Georgia has a ton o guys entering the portal, just like Uf.

in the last 3 high school classes under Napier, Georgia has signed:
    30
    26
    28

That is 84 total high school kids

In the same time period, Florida has signed 61 high school players. It is often a numbers game- you need to stack talent because many players don’t work out for many reasons. your odds are better at success if you have 4 players in a role vs 2 as that gives you more chances to find the best players.

Napier is decreasing his margin for error by signing small classes- a higher percentage of the signers need to be awesome, need to be awesome sooner, and need to not transfer, get hurt, etc. than our peer programs. Tough road to ho.

This has almost always been the way though. At one point during the Mac years Alabama had "processed" an entire class more worth of players than we had over a 4 year period. They and a handful of others have always operated at a different level of disregard for the player. Spurrier has been quoted as saying a scholarship is a 4 year commitment regardless of them actually only being 1year because ots the right thing to do.

Its part of why my interest for college football waned over the past decade plus. It went from a talent acquisition business to a talent hoarding business when Saban and Bama paired up to push and break every ethic to win at all cost.

i think spurriers strategy worked better before the portal. Now that kids can leave via transfer without sitting out, it is not just them getting processed.
