Sounds like you really don't know much. He was Wisky's leading receiver in 2022 when Mertz was throwing to him. 47 catches for 689 yards and 6 TD's. For our receivers this year, that'd be #2 in yards behind Pearsall and he'd be tied for #1 with Eugene Wilson with 6 TD's. But I'm sure you knew that....
Trask was underrated because he played his HS ball in an option system that didn’t fit him and he didn’t transfer out for playing time. I can see some parallels with this player because as a qb/athlete, you aren’t getting the same reps/attention as players who have focused on one position. So pointing to star rating is a bit short-sighted in this situation.
The "Biggest" perpetrator of the negativity- has been Gator media/Podcaster's It has been a nonstop 24/7 spiral of negativity from the people who are supposedly fans. The megaphone of social media has amplified the negativity to a crescendo that had to affect this signing class, and possibly some of the former Gators now transferring into the portal. It has become a self fulfilling prophecy. And it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they all found themselves unemployed, or better yet banned from covering Gator football- no media access for fair weather fans. You don't have to be a sunshine pumper, but " hype " for clicks is hurting the program.
We have a young team with few seniors. More important to get some portal transfers that can start immediately than a kid from HS. Need to win to change momentum and perception
That new poster probably said Mertz would be a turnover machine and incapable of running the offense. When will these guys learn that production and playing time in one system isn’t equal to another.
Pinheads desperate for attention. Thankfully I find what I need here and read a few old school sites for a few articles. The Podcaster are unwatchable.
Nonsense to the bolded statement. Linval Joseph was committed to us when Urban was here in favor of more highly regarded John Brown. Brown never got on the field and left the University of Florida. On the other hand, Linval Joseph was a 2nd round draft pick after his career at ECU ended, and a starter for the Giants beginning in his 2nd season. Thirteen years later and he's still in the league.
don’t know. Third year in a row we signed less than all our peers. Can’t blame it on signing portals as all our peers (fsu, Miami, etc) sign tons of portal guys as well. still, the teams in the playoffs…they excel at high school recruiting as their bedrock. we needed to sign a large high school class in 2023. Probably need portal talent that can contribute immediately in 2024 since Napier may be coaching for his job. For example, losing on WR Williams zero impact in 2024 but transfer WR Dike will certainly have an impact. seems like we do not have back up plans for high school guys when we miss on major high school targets. And since we miss out on literally every uncommitted 5 star target each chose on ESD, we end with a smaller class. This year we had more decommit than usual and as usual no back up plans.
If people quit subscribing and listening then they'd have no audience. Bitching about the negativity being broadcasted but continuing to listen to it is the problem, not the people doing the podcasting. I solved the problem for myself. I don't listen to any of them. As far as them being supposedly fans, we have quite a few posters on here that claim to be fans, but obviously aren't.
I like the players we signed. But the amount we signed along with that ranking…we probably won’t like the W-L record we produce as our peers mostly all out recruited us. Again.
Not true. We out-recruited Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt for the umpteenth time in a row.
I think the back up plans are in the portal at this point. Let the guys that aren't takes go to San Diego State and then bring them in if they pan out.
Social media has become just about trying to get clicks, nothing more than that. Substance doesn’t matter, factual reporting doesn’t matter as long as you can get people to open the article. Yet that’s the primary source of information for the majority of the public. People will believe anything they read.
