Should I teach this class or no?

Almost seems like u answered ur own question.
It's ur last yr, so do u want to chance putting up with a little BS in order to make a difference in a subject u care about. It's ur last yr, so any Parent BS, just tell em to FO and take it up with the principal.

On the other hand it's ur last yr and maybe u just want to cruise into retirement with no issues. The latter seems almost impossible for any teacher these days tho.

Their T-shirts say "We do not co-parent with the government." Need they say more?

What age is the class? And I assume US history? I would think absolutely teach it. We desperately need good teachers and 41 yrs experience is a valuable resource. Plus it could be interesting for you.

You know better than us - I presume keep historical fact as the class foundation and don’t delve into political opinion, even from historical perspective. focus class room discussion of individuals. Ie Harriet Tubman did exist - what was it like for her. Or betsy ross and importance of the flag for our new republic. even the flag now has political connotations. But its easy to miss these were everyday people like us.

Or you could go rogue and be all tucker Carson or Rachel Maddow with it. go out with something memorable.

Its an upper classmen elective. Probably one semester, i wouldn't have taught for 41 years but if i had i would probably take the path of least resistance, but if i wanted to impact one final class of kids this might be where.

Go ahead and teach it. I seriously doubt the vagina mafia, aka moms for liberty will say anything to you. They’re mostly interested in making sure any discussion of sex and vaccinations stays out of the classroom, and harassing school board members at meetings.

Congrats on your upcoming retirement. The question would be who would develop the lesson plan. You or the administration? The final question is what is it you want to teach your class about women in the way of their accomplishments and contributions to society? There are many women to choose from in the field of science, mathematics, journalism, aviation, engineering, medicine and politics not to mention the many women that deserve attention for supportive roles as a group from the common housewife to Rosie the riveter. Heck you could even have a course dedicated to women in crime from drug lords to con artists to serial killers.

If they are looking for the political angle of struggles - I'm sorry but I know what the definition of a woman is.

With so many losing their minds and a little petty tyrant at the helm, I'd be hesitant at first too, but I'd probably go for it eventually. If only because in some ways, you got to be ready for the fight.

Golda is my favorite of all time. We could use a few more like her.

What is the risk of talking about historically relevant women? Insane that’s even a concern. Are kids forced to take it? Nope. It’s an elective. As long as the course description is accurate blow the place up by celebrating meaningful advances women made.

This is super easy. Ask the class "what is a woman?" If they can't give you a straight answer then run away. :) You gotta "read the room" before taking it.

Because instead of ruining their kids' educations, they want to ruin all kids' educations. They're like the old groups who wanted to censor TV shows instead of just preventing their kids from watching those shows.

Disagree. I don't view them as moms concerned for their children, like a Tipper Gore or Jennifer Garner, testifying about what they worry about their children are seeing or hearing. These are hardcore activists, at least the top at the organizational level. They are far right wing extremists who have found a convenient way to dress up their ideology in the guise of concern over children. They are as sincere, and often are, QAnon adherents who say they are just motivated to protect children.

What's crazy is just one of them filed a complaint about a math book so it was added to the list of banned books for the entire state

If you decide to teach the course, please let us know how it goes. Sounds like an interesting class. (Although that is coming from someone that listened to a Yale Course Online about what it was like to live in Britain in the Middle Ages.)

Hillary Clinton’s role in American history is pretty damn important in a positive way.

    Tucker Carlson and Rachel
Maddow are distinctly different TV personalities. One of them is in the journalism business. The other more harmful one isn’t.

Agreed. And I don't actually like them, so no cognitive dissonance
