Alabama's Colby Shelton will be transferring to Florida. Big time pick up. Look for one more big time announcement in next week.
2nd-Team Freshman All-American. This is a great addition to the program! He's from a rural area between Tampa and Lakeland, so he must have seen that the future is at UF and in driving distance for the fam.
He was a top rated SS in high school but played 3rd for Alabama this past year. Incredible year at the plate but was pretty bad in the field. I wonder if maybe UF will try him at short…..maybe he will perform better at his natural position.
O'Sullivan is notorious for recruiting shortstops out of high school and then moving some to 3rd or 2nd at UF after determining which of them wins the SS job. Halter, India, Guthrie, Fabian are a few that come to mind who played other positions after coming in as a SS. We have 3 infielders signed in this year's class and all played SS at the high school level. It's going to be really hard to replace Josh Rivera. Kurland has 2nd base locked down and if Colby comes back for another year, I gotta think he's got 3rd nailed. So, my thinking is that Shelton, if he signs, will be coming to compete with D. Fabian and the 3 freshmen for the SS job. Just a guess.
Agree. Not sure how or the reason for Shelton’s errors but the balls at 3rd are entirely different than short. If most of his errors were in the earlier part of the season I would feel better since it would take a little while to get adjusted to playing 3rd. ADDED: I see he didn’t make an error the last 19 games
Mikey needs to work on his base running awareness as well…..he has had some blunders this year. Initially I thought he got picked off 2nd last night. That would have been a disaster.
Who is Shane lol. I did have Shane in mind when I posted that. I will say I agree with him about half the time on the timing of bunts……HALF
