Spoken like so, so many people that don't get job offers from employers based on an interview, much less a background or credit check. Like our prisons are filled with "innocent" men, people that aren't offered jobs based on a bad interview were just "misunderstood" and these rules by which we judge are a negative reflection on society. "Like, who the hell are you to judge me and my life experience as seen in a 30-minute meeting...don't hassle me with these so-called "rules", or conventions, or common courtesies. Just pay me and GTFOH and let me be myself. You're tripping, trying to fit me into some mold simply because you have an opening and I need money."

Wow you really took that somewhere. Your agenda sounds cool, you should probably find a different place to present it

Getting his number retired was a bad joke.

I've had the same thought Ranger. Good post.
As Simon and Garfunkel sang "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."

I actually find myself in the middle on all this.
I never liked Deion due 1) being from FSU 2) being a flashy in your face guy.

BUT- I loved his NFL accomplishments and his baseball stuff. I also appreciated he was one of the best corners in the league.
I also thought it was cool he coached at an HBCU and loved the way he handled that heartbreaking loss.
Further- there is no doubt he turned around CU which has been really bad for a while.

As far as the son- kids w/ famous dads tend to struggle to find themselves and separate their own accomplishments from the dad/ parent.
So in some ways I have sympathy.
But showing up at pre-draft interviews with an entitled attitude?? Who wants to take that on?
Also some real questions about how he will do apart from his dad.

So some real questions. I don't blame NFL teams for taking a pass for the first 3 rounds though he probably slid too far.

I'm not rooting for him to fail but I honestly hope he finds some humility and is the best teammate around.

I apologize for that and you're right. Again, it's my larger point that SS seems to provoke biases about many things. As in all my sins, I am my most grievous obstacle to righteousness.

I was reacting to the common perception that its the problems of the employer that result in the failure to hire a person. It's never the person themselves.

This is an incredible post. It captures exactly what I believe as well. I never root for anyone to fail, esp those that must overcome obstacles not of their creation or choosing.

Mrs G8rRanger would say differently, much of the time, but if you think so, I'll take it.

While everyone else debates the terrible or misunderstood (depending on their Deion hate boner level) Shadeur. I find myself yet again absolutely dumbfounded how long of a career Flacco created from 1 good playoff run. At this point I have to just stand and applaud the man for how long he has got away with being bad to mediocre while still being paid millions. He is the Hawk Tuah of the NFL.

They took a qb before him and he fell to the fifth round. I have my doubts as with most wbs that he will be a legit franchise type qb. I think he is a third round at worst as far as talent but no team wants to deal with the citcus. Tebow and Kap were damn sure good enough to be legit backups but teams chose to not deal with the drama. Id your as talented as dion was, thats a different story. Dion was a huge factor between dallas and SF winning superbowls. His kid cant tote that type of baggage.

Shedeur was projected to be a 1st round pick just a few months ago. NFL scouts clearly saw something in him talent wise. He will get a shot to prove if he belongs, if not he’ll wash out just like many other QBs have.

It wasn't the scouts, it was the media that hyped him as a 1st rd pick.

With all due respect to ES, Barry was IMO not just a good one, he was the best one, ever.

Edit: Also, others on here are not stupid, that statement in quotes was a clear inference that Skink is or is being racist. Get that gaslighting crap out of here.

I happen to have 24 years of experience working for the Browns owner and all I will say is "What of the personnel decisions in the Browns have you seen that gives any expectation of success?" and the answer lies 100% between the ears of that owner.

I patently do not know what makes him tick, but it appears that dad has poisoned him to the NFL. Dad's schtick just isn't what the owners want in negotiating THE most important and difficult-to-execute position and he appears to be a much more famous version of Ball and his handling of his sons in both college and the NBA. What Shadeur needed/needs to do, IMO, is to tell his dad that he is now completely independent and he will take his lumps his way and proclaim it to the Browns...and then DO IT. And if that means he has to live on a paltry practice squad level of income (unless he decides to go to the CFL) then it will show them he means business.

But if looks like a toy poodle who is now in the woods all by himself and needs to tap his inner wolf to survive, then he will be doing Plan B and that is to be a coddled infant in a rich and famous family.

Personally, I don't give a crap either way.

Half the teams are constantly running through qbs and he is the bottom level of mediocre back up no doubt. Qbs have to fail pretty hard for him to be a better option.
