We destroy animals that attack humans.. and they do not have the capacity for understanding or compassion that humans do. When a human shows they no longer have the capacity for compassion or understanding they should be put down. Humanely. But there is no reform for these people.

I never said Florida was any better than Cali in that regard... The death penalty needs to be used in some of these cases.
If I may add to my post. Mitigation factors are largely irrelevant IMHO. The DP is for the worst of the worst. It should not matter why they are because by definition such killers are not happy, we’ll-adjusted people with wonderful childhoods. That definition essentially assumes they were abused, or mentally ill, or whatever. If we’re going to let such killers skate because of mitigation factors, we might as well not have the DP. That’s not the only reason I’m ambivalent about the DP. Another is the fact innocent people have been executed - enough to be unacceptable IMO. Otherwise, I have no moral opposition to the DP. Some people need to be removed from society, be in by the DP or prison. Personally, I’d rather be executed than spend my life in a prison.
