Kentucky Gymnastics Opens 2019 at Texas Women’s
Wildcats to open season in Lone Star State on Saturday night
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2019 season for Kentucky Gymnastics will begin on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET in Denton, Texas as the Wildcats will compete against Texas Women's in the opening meet of the year.

"We have such a long preseason and there's a lot that goes in to it," said head coach Tim Garrison, who will be entering his eighth season in charge of the Wildcats. "We had to get to a level of preparedness in time to compete, and we've reached that level. Competition is the payoff. The exciting part is watching the team compete, excel, and do the things they've prepared to perform."

UK will be competing in Texas, as Wildcat senior and Tyler, Texas native Sidney Dukes gets to compete in front of her hometown crowd to open the 2019 season. Saturday marks the second time in the past three seasons that Kentucky will be opening competition season on the road.

No. 14 Auburn Opens 2019 at Home vs. No. 29 Iowa
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 14 Auburn gymnastics team kicks off the 2019 season at home in Auburn Arena, hosting No. 29 Iowa of the Big Ten Conference. The Tigers and the Hawkeyes will face off Friday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. CT and the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.

"I really like our team and where we are right now," head coach Jeff Graba said. "This is one of the first years that we have enough depth and talent to be competitive with anyone in the country. It's going to come down to team culture and the tangibles the team brings to not just the meets, but practice every single day. The team has done a great job to build up a big trust in each other.

"Iowa is typically a strong team that starts each season off really well," Graba added. "I'm expecting them to be hitting on all cylinders when they get here. Friday night is going to be a good opening test for us."

No. 2 Sooners Open Season at No. 12 Arkansas
By Lindsey Morrison Assistant Director of Communications

    LET’S GET IT STARTED
The No. 2-ranked Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team kicks off the 2019 season in the heart of SEC Country with a test at No. 12 Arkansas. The two squads will square off at 6 p.m. CT Saturday at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Ark. The Sooners lead the all-time series with the Razorbacks, 15-2, and have won the last 11 meetings between the two teams, including last year’s meeting at the Lloyd Noble Center.

    ROAD WARRIORS
On Saturday, the Sooners will look to build upon their 74-11 all-time true road record under 13th-year head coach K.J. Kindler. OU has won 14 of its last 15 meets on the road, dating back to 2016. In road openers during Kindler’s tenure, the Sooners have posted a 9-3 mark. The Sooners will open their season on the road for the second consecutive season after downing Georgia in Athens to open the 2018 season.

    SENIOR STARS
With a pair of individual national champions among them, the senior class will provide leadership on and off the competition floor for the Sooners this season. Brenna Dowell, Ashley Hiller, Nicole Lehrmann and Alex Marks make up this year’s talented group. Since their arrivals in Norman, the Sooners have secured two NCAA Championships (2016, 2017) and a runner-up finish (2018). They have been a part of four-straight Big 12 Championships and four regional championships. Dowell and Lehrmann have each picked up an individual national title and have combined for 10 All-America honors.
