Mizzou just beat Kansas. Kansas was ranked NO. 1. Mizzou predicted to be in the bottom half. Other SEC teams including us are beating other conferences teams. There will be no easy games in the SEC. Going 9-9 might be an accomplishment for any team in the SEC.
We could have 8-10 SEC make the dance maybe more. 12 wins should win the conference. This team plays hard, we have 8 good players they could play on any team.
It's hard to see any team winning more than 12 conference games right now. It's gonna be a nightly bloodbath.
How do we account for this meteoric jump across the board? (I know, meteors fall and most certainly don't jump. Sue me.) The SEC started going after proven coaches some years ago and that's a factor, but is it NIL money? Every high D1 program can offer big money. Maybe this is a one-year fluke, but I get the feeling it's not. We shot past the almighty ACC like they were standing still.
Auburn and/or UT might win more than twelve. They are both really good and both have a favorable schedule.
The ACC is probably the weakest of the Power 5 conferences this year. Duke and UNC no longer having HOF coaches probably hurts a lot. Big Twelve was often very strong but lost two strong programs to the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma. Big 10 (now in octal!) is strong in the middle but are lacking top tier teams.
Torvik's formula has the Gators beating Arizona State by 6 and UNC by 3, and entering the SEC schedule at 13-0. Then starting SEC play 0-2, and finishing 10-8, and 23-8 in the overall regular season.
Interesting SEC stat of the day..... So far this year the combined records of all SEC teams playing at home is 82 and 2. Something tells me it's going to be very hard to win a road game in conference this year.
I'm looking forward to seeing Martin D up Tamar Bates when Mizzou comes to town next month. Lord knows nobody on our roster last year could stop him. Should be a heck of a battle.
That's a big key for us this season. Martin may very well be the best perimeter defender in the SEC and having someone that can contain or shut down the opponent's top guard will be a great edge.
Well then, I can go back to sleep until tournament time. I have all the data I need. Um, did they post what are the 6 numbers for the upcoming lottery draw?
This all sounds plausible. I hope we can get north of 10 conference wins, but this year that would just be gravy.
Just my snarky way of putting little credence in anyone's "expert" opinion. Personally, being undefeated through to the end of 2024 will be a VERY nice accomplishment. After that, who in the heck knows what will transpire.
