I am assuming this means if they opt out they retain that year of eligibility, although it doesn't actually say that anywhere.

My understanding is that’s not the case, hope I’m wrong though. True seniors & RS seniors should not be forced to play their final year in this farce of a season that will likely unfold this fall. They should be allowed to instead play next season. Let the rosters be expanded by ever how many that is for one year.

This seems to be what they are intimating without outright saying it.

I personally believe the whole season needs to be canned. I can already see this is gonna be a disaster.

I think that’s up to the NCAA, not the SEC

No farce is going to happen..because no actual season will take place this fall.

The SEC is just going through five stages of grief. This is the bargaining stage. They'll reach acceptance eventually.

so what happens with the scholarship limit of 85, should players opt out the season is cancelled.

I imagine the stars will leave, but most will want the extra year.

They need to do this right, and let these athletes who opt out retain that year of eligibility.
Obviously then they would have issues w/ scholarship limits, etc, so they need to adjust that too.

I see this as a necessary step to save the season, which is a great thing.
