Megan Skaggs: Motivated by Promise of 2019 Season
    UF Lauren Staff
The Gators' 2019 season shows much potential and sophomore Megan Skaggs looks forward to what the future holds for Florida.
The Gators came within 0.225 of winning a NCAA title last season, and according to sophomore Megan Skaggs, that is one of the biggest things motivating this team this year.
"Of course, that's always in the back of your mind. You want to win," Skaggs said. "But I think we know that we have the talent to do it and we can win."
And even though she shined as a competitor last season, she's looking forward to improving her gymnastics skills on the floor and her leadership skills off it.
"I think the sophomores, especially, stepped up, not even gymnastics-wise, but bringing energy to the team and then we gained the freshman," she said. "So with their talent and commitment we're going to be able to fill those gaps no problem."

Jazmyn Foberg: Off-Season Surgery Forces New Role for 2019
    Lauren Staff UF
Jazmyn Foberg's recovery from off-season elbow surgery is keeping her on the sideline for now. Foberg 's adapted to the role as vocal supporter and is always there with an encouraging word or hug.
In her first year as a Gator, sophomore Jazmyn Foberg took center stage.
She appeared in all but one meet last season, earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week twice and posted collegiate-best marks for vault (9.90) and uneven bars (9.95) as the youngest member of the Florida squad.
But now, due to an off-season elbow surgery, the Bayville, N.J., native will be stepping into a new role on the sideline, at least for the first part of the season.

Although it's not something she's used to, she still sees the positives of being a support system for her teammates.
"I feel like I'm getting to know different people more because I'm helping them around the gym, and watching and learning different things about each other," she said.

Alyssa Baumann: Taking on Leadership Roles On & Off Competitive Floor

    Lauren Staff UF
Alyssa Baumann was a shining star for the Gators in her first season.
Alyssa Baumann was a shining star for the Gators in her first season.

The Dallas, Texas, native was named a two-time All-American, became just the second freshman in UF history to post a score of 9.975 on beam, and was selected as the Gator Gymnastics' Newcomer of the Year.
But after an unexpected injury during practice took her out of the lineup in Florida's first meet against No. 11 Missouri, she had to temporarily take on a new role.
"It was definitely hard not to compete in the first meet," Baumann said. "So when I had that fall and wasn't able to compete I was really upset. I just switched my role from competitor to biggest supporter."

It's a role that her coach Jenny Rowland said Baumann wasn't expecting, but something that she did a fantastic job at.
