I just wish you’d own being a conservative a bit more. You are, by my estimation, a normal pre Trump conservative based on the years of posting I’ve been here. Which is totally fine- I disagree with you on stuff but that’s all good. I just hate when you drop the line “hey I didn’t vote for that guy” in the argument. I didn’t vote for every psycho dem that exists either - but you can’t say oh I’m pro-life and then when pubs do shitty pro-life stuff say oh I didn’t vote for that. Cause you admit you’ll never vote for the other side which I guess makes you a single issue voter. So you’ve basically been weaponized by the pubs to never vote differently so yeah, when the party you support does shitty stuff you kinda got to own that.

for example- I hate woke shit but I have not voted pub recently and probably won’t ever after all that’s happened so that makes me partly responsible for the dumb shit democrats do too. I’m low key condoning Dems dumb shit over pub dumb shit.

I see where you are coming from … but your own moral justification for the decisions you have and will make cannot (should not) be held to others. We each have to draw our own lines, our own moral compass. Not voting for Trump.. for many conservatives was a way of drawing that line. Far too often ALL conservatives get lumped into the same category (negatively) as maga or far right wing.. when in fact many of us have different shades and levels of conservatism. I imagine (hope) the same can be said for democrats/liberals.

You missed my point. I had to pretend to be a person of faith to be able to adopt. It was weird.

I just dont see it that way. I think of myself as a moderate..and since 2019ish an non affiliated Independent. Pretty liberal when it comes to things like health care and immigration (in the way Reagan would be considered liberal by todays Maga). Pretty conservative when it comes to "woke" type stuff and religious liberty.

But yes, abortion is a very important topic to me.

Regardless, I can say that I didnt vote for it. That matters to me. It sends a message. People like me cost Trump in 2020.

More than 50% didnt want him on the ticket in 2016.

I think in order to take the party back from the extremists we have to sit out. It's the only thing they will listen to.

I appreciate differences. I have literally opened my mind to ideas over the years based on good faith discussions on this board. (ACA being one of them.)

Heck, I am even liberal compared to some on abortion. I don't call it murder. (I believe there is biblical grounds for my position). I support health of the mother/rape/incest exceptions.

I do feel that our wide open abortion on demand experience is a failure and a tragedy.

I get that. That is weird. But it still helps my point when you think about it. If the only options for you were faith based, then where are the other options?

Fascinating... after getting all pissy about Tilly not owning Trump, you conclude by owning the inescable truth of presidential elections--they are a multiple choice deal.

You're motivated by pubs being dumber (more malignant) that Dems....

...but somehow you can't fathom that so many of us, are motivated by the greater malignancy represented by your chosen party.

Trump has his faults... but he has had 3 great strengths however, in the last 3 elections--he wasn't as shitty or malignant, as Shillary, Doh! Biden, or sKamala.

And here he is, POTUS--after 37 indicatements, and a handful of convictions...

That's some seriously skank ass crap that yall have served up to oppose THAT guy.

    Lol!

Retribution for your enemies. Are you blind to the current state of affairs in the American political system? Again, tailgate mentality (on both sides, but mostly MAGA). The answer couldn't be more obvious or clear.

Maybe its because you all come charging in to defend MAGA on everything and always position this as if it was always Harris or Trump, and completely ignore your fecklessness during the primaries. For instance, Bluke "claims" to have been a Haley supporter, but how much of a supporter was he? How hard did he fight? How hard did the DeSantis supporters fight?

Barely an effort and then complete capitulation to MAGA once the deed was done. To be honest, this is really on people like you. You knew better, but refused to fight for the better candidates and, in the end, just rolled over for MAGA.

You guys claim to oppose Trump on "things", but where is this mythical disagreement? What, a thrown-in sentence after a 4 paragraph screed about some mythical Trans/Woke threat?

The very, very obvious problem is that the Republican Party and conservative movement, should it actually be considered that one still exists, is led by an outright criminal who compels abetting his criminality from the national Party - in effect rendering them a criminal organization. And they willingly comply. This is apparent in innumerable ways, but most obviously in the attempt to overturn an election which has resulted in numerous criminal charges and disbarments.

Now on the other hand, the Democratic Party may be considered, subjectively; woke, soft on illegal immigration, heavy-handed wrt covid, had a weak POTUS candidate with a bad laugh, etc. etc.

So you'll understand how "not voting for" a literal criminal ...... is but a false excuse for people who constantly advocate for and support the organization that empowers and abets him. It's simply enabling un-American criminality in order to combat ..... woke?

in short - I’m just saying own it. Don’t make excuses. Dems gotta own our party’s shitty leadership just as much as pubs do. We can’t just waive away responsibility when it serves our interests in an argument.

The religious have been co-opted by the state to be the only pathway. Trying to start a non religious pathway would go nowhere. My nephew and his wife are Jehovahs Witnesses. It’s as nutty of a religion as all the others are. They tried to adopt an older child and they were told they would need to change to a more traditional religion to be able to adopt. The Christifascists have the monopoly.

Well for instance, I live in a state where by the time we voted, Trump was already a lock for the nomination. All but one candidate had dropped out at that point IRC and sadly she was too far behind. I still didn't support Trump.

DeSantis was actually publicly endorsed by more elected officials here than Trump was. Though he withdrew beforehand.

Those of us that are anti Trump can really only do so much.

Beside, Are you suggesting we all quit our jobs and go on marches? That would make us democrats. ;).

Agree, thats why I left the party period.
People act like a bunch of us are wearing the red R proudly while taking a token stand against Trump. For many of us, it went further than that.

Well, for one I know that isnt true as a wide issue. Another one of the largest sects adopting children today is the LGBTQ community via the state. I dont think most of them are Christifascists.

The agency you used may have been that way, but the idea that you cant adopt unless you are religious is just inaccurate. (From a global perspective)

I went back and reread your post and I think I misunderstood the context. My apologies.

Why do I come harder at people like yourself?

After years of doing this, there is only so much energy I’m going to expend on those who are just brainwashed. There’s no hope changing their mind, and no point even discussing things with them because their logic and “facts” are just wrong. Me engaging them just makes me dumber.

For people like you, I do see you are somewhat adaptable, willing to try to see reality for what it is, so for me it is doubly frustrating when I still see people like yourself clinging to remnants of your former tribe with “both sides” narratives.

    Point out
1.Again you use YOU ALL - nice broad brush.
    2. Always come charging in to defend MaGa .. Tilly no I always come charging in to defend MaGa.
    3. How hard did any of us fight against Trump? How would you know? How would you know who any of us voted for, campaigned for, stumped for, during the primaries? You don’t. Period. 4. This is on people like me? Please explain what that means. Please explain what you know about me and .. people like me?

It is becoming apparent that the “tolerant” left is very often intolerant of anyone that differed in opinion. Lumping everyone on the right together is boring, lazy and far too simple. (Same applies to those that donut to the left.)
Now in your last post you seem to want to make it personal.. pointing directly at me.. so I’m interested in what you think you know about me. Who didn’t vote for in primaries. Am I a registered dem, pub, or independent. He’ll.. what state am I registered to vote in. Have I ever worked for a campaign?
I mean.. if this is all the fault of people like em.. surely you know who and what we are.. yes…
